Adipic summary

The activation of (strept)avidin with adipic dihydrazide may be done using the method of Bayer et al. (1987a). A summary of this protocol is given below.

The cake analysis was corrected for the amount of adipic acid calculated to have been associated with the water in the wet cake based on weight percent solids in the cake and the measured concentration of adipic acid in the slurry liquor. A summary of test results is given in Table IV.

Nitric acid also has many irKlustrial uses for production of nitro-aromatics and nitro-alkanes, of wdiich explosives manufacture is the largest. Another application of nitric add is for adipic acid production (an intermediate product in Nylon production). In this case the concentrated add is used. A summary of applications of nitric add is given in Figure 8.1. 

In addition to MA, phthalic anhydride, and ethylene glycol, other common intermediates used for the production of unsaturated polyesters are fumaric acid, isophthalic acid, adipic acid, propylene glycol, diethylene glycol, and dipropylene glycol. Table 12.1 provides a summary of both common and specialty building blocks used in polyesters and contributions made by these intermediates to the properties of the products. Recycled polyethylene terephthalate beverage bottles may one day become an important raw material for unsaturated polyester resin production, providing an alternative for a substantial part of the petroleum-based intermediates. 

In summary, at room temperature malonic and glutaric adducts are salts adipic is ambiguous succinic, pimelic, suberic and azelaic adducts are co-crystals. Diffraction data and solid-state NMR data are in agreement except in the case of compound 1C6, which shows proton motion on the NMR time scale. Salt or co-crystals - does it matter The melting points of compounds 1C3-1C9 do not correlate with the saltlike or co-crystal nature of the adducts, but rather with the even-odd carbon chain length in spite of the substantial differences in supramolecular arrangements in the crystals of the adducts with respect to those of the parent diacids.
