Addressing cost

The process chemist must develop a commercial route for a drug candidate that addresses cost issues, environmental concerns, atom economy, and ease of synthesis, and with the specified quality attributes that will ensure patient safety during development and post-launch, underscoring the importance of process research and development disciplines in the industry. 

Natural hydrotalcite is derived from mineral bmcite having the following formula [Mg6Al2(0H)i6]C03.nH20. Hydrotalcite can also be obtained by synthesis but consistency and quality were always problematic. This invention addresses cost efficient production of hydrotalcite from inexpensive raw materials. A process is described in detail which leads to a production of hydrotalcite which has good performance as an acid scavenger in PVC formulations. 

These interpretations and the following enforcement practices (including some letters of interpretations issued jointly to the industrial actors) caused much discussion and controversy, and were seen by key industrial actors as unduly disproportionate. Costs were estimated at possibly several billion NOK, and the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association later published a report which addressed costs and benefits of the new requirements (Norwegian Oil and Gas Association 2006). 

We also provide a case study involving a cost-focused research and development effort that addresses cost accounting in a multicompany environment. This is in the belief that such an approach will be increasingly important to partners marrying up in supply chains. Also, Chapter 32 describes a methodology for calculating activity-based costs. 

Reduction of Cost If the PCB bnyer clearly states the required acceptability and qnality criteria to the manufacturer, the manufacturer can more clearly nnderstand the bnyer s costs. Cost redactions are a permanent fixture in the manufacturing environment. For companies to survive in this competitive market, they must address costs. Unacceptable, low-qnality product that cannot be sold is a direct and significant cost.
