An impact resistant PVC-acrylic polymer alloy is formed by grafting PMMA onto poly (ethylhexyl acrylate) (PEHA) and then blending the resultant mixture of graft copolymer and homopolymers with PVC (7) (Diagram 5). 

Polymer complexes of PANI and a polymeric dopant such as poly(acrylic acid) or poly (methylvinlyether-flif-maleic acid) have been synthesized using what the authors describe as a template-guided synthetic method to form aqueous solutions or dispersions of the complex [230]. An advantage of these polymer complexes is that they remain conductive at pH value up to 9, making them potentially useful in marine environments. The PANI complexes were used as additives (l%-5%) in a commercial waterborne epoxy, which was then applied to various A1 alloys (AA 2024-T3, AA 7075-T6, and AA 6061). The coatings were found effective in inhibiting corrosion of the A1 alloys in air-saturated seawater. 

PANI-CSA/m-cresol solution with PMMA/m-cresol solution to prepare PANI-CSA/PMMA coatings to investigate the corrosion protection property. In some cases, the dopant can also be polymer matrix. Oliveira et al. [92] prepared poly (methyl methacrylate-co-acrylic acid) (PMMA-co-AA)-doped PAN I by using the template-guided method. The doped PANI (PANI-PMMA-co-AA) was soluble in ethyl acetate, and the solution was used for dip coating plates of aluminum alloy.

Various approaches have been undertaken for reactive compatibilization of poly-amide/ABS alloys. Maleic anhydride can be grafted to the ABS. Styrene maleic anhydride (SMA) copolymers have been employed as compatibilizers for polyamide/ABS blends. SMA and SAN copolymers are miscible when the AN and maleic anhydride (MA) contents are equal. The impact strength of these blends has been found to be sensitive to the amount and composition of the SMA copolymer. Addition of SMA to SAN/polyamide blends was found to enhance the tensile and impact properties of these blends. Imidized acrylic polymers have been used as compatibilizers for nylon-6/ABS blends. Glycidyl methacrylate and methyl methacrylate (GMA/MMA) copolymers are used as compatibilizing agents. The epoxide functionality in GMA is capable of reaction with polyamide end groups. GMA/MMA copolymers can be shown to be miscible with SAN over the range of AN content of ABS. Styrene/GMA copolymers have been reported to be used as compatibilizers for polymer pairs such as...
