Acrylic acid powder coatings

Glycidyl methacrylate-acrylic. These powder coatings are based on copolymers of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and acrylic monomers. They are often thermally cured with dodecanedioic acid (DDDA) and are used in automotive primer-surfacer and clear coats of luxury automobiles such as BMW (220,221). [Pg.2752]

Poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) with an average molecular weight of 250,000 was used to coat a dry tablet of ZnS Mn, which was obtained by compressing the powder at 173 MPa. The amount and state of doped manganous ion, Mn(II), was examined by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (EPR). EPR enables us to gather various extra information with respect to the state of Mn(II). [Pg.687]

Acrylic acid derivatives treated with heparin are used to coat surfaces of clinical equipment. Acrylic acid is also used as a copolymer component in aerosol hair spray, in plastics, in molding powder for signs, in paint formulations, in leather finishing, in paper coatings, and in latex applications to prevent premature coagulation. It is also used in the production of hydrogels used for contact lenses. [Pg.45]

Recently, a liquid crystal face cleanser that does not use a polymer has been introduced [28]. This material is made of a lyotropic liquid crystal formed by a nonionic surfactant/polyol/water system, which makes use of the phase-transition behavior caused by the amount of oil and water. A scrubbing agent such as polyethylene powder or sodium poly(acrylic acid) can be added to improve cleaning power and leave a fresh feeling. Pack is used for several hours by forming a coating on the face to provide nutrients and water to the skin as well as to remove dirt from the skin. Poly(vinyl alcohol) or carboxymethyl cellulose is used as the film former. A typical recipe is listed in Table 1 [29]. [Pg.949]

Poly(ethylene oxide) forms a water-insoluble association complex with poly(acrylic acid). This is the basis of microencapsulation of nonaqueous printing inks. Dry, free-flowing powders obtained by this process can be used to produce carbonless carbon papers (see Microencapsulation in Chapter 2). When pressure is applied to the paper coated with the microencapsulated ink, the capsule wall ruptures and the ink is released. [Pg.129]
