Acknowledgements. The authors would like to thank the European Commission (Direk-torate General XII Science, Research and Development Direktorate G Human Capital and Mobility) for their financial support. [Pg.41]

The author acknowledges many stimulating discussions with attendees of the Sagamore XII conference, including with Prof. Lou Massa, Prof. Mel Levy, Prof. Robert Parr, Prof. Wolf Weyerich, Prof. Vedene Smith, Dr. Mark Spackman, Prof. Graham Chandler, Prof. Brian Figgis, Dr. Stephen K. Wolff, and Dr. Harmut Schmider. Thanks to the Australian Research Council QEII fellowship scheme for funds. [Pg.273]

Acknowledgments. Like editors of previous volumes of this series, I am indebted to many colleagues for contributions to this work. First there are Wolfgang Beck in Munich, Ekkehard Lindner in Tubingen, and John R. Shapley in Urbana, who assisted me in the selections and solicitations for three special collections transition metal complexes containing weakly bonded anions (Chapter 3), metalocyclic complexes (Chapter 4), and polynuclear transition metal complexes (Chapter 5), respectively. Each has contributed a preface for the chapter he helped to form, following the pattern set in Volume XII when Alan G. MacDiarmid invited E. C. Ashby and myself to form a chapter on metal hydrides. As a consequence of such efforts, more than two-thirds of this volume consists of invited preparations. [Pg.454]

Acknowledgements. This work was supported by the EU DG XII under contracts No. ENV4-CT95-0048 and ENV4-CT97-0623. [Pg.72]

We acknowledge that although thermochemical estimates will occasionally be used in the current study, we forego the results from quantum chemical calculations largely in the name of brevity. We are forced to use benzalaniline (XIII), there being no enthalpy of formation known for its acyclic counterpart CH2=CH-CH=N-CH=CH2, for either of its isomers CH2=CH-CH=CH-CH=NH and CH2=CH-CH=CH-N=CH2, nor an unequivocal measured value for CH2=NH or any of its methylated derivatives (see the summaries of imine thermochemistry [21, 22]). We additionally note that benzalaniline, taken as its trans-isomer like its hydrocarbon counterpart stilbene (XII), is a conventional,... [Pg.5]

The editor of Volume XII is particularly indebted to a number of people who have contributed significantly to this volume. Dr. George Parshall, Prof. A. D. Allen, Dr. Frank Bottomley, and their associates made particularly valuable contributions to Chapter One. Professor John Fackler assisted in the accumulation of syntheses on pentanedionato complexes Prof. Aaron Wold assisted with the work on solids, and Prof. John Ruff assisted with the section on fluorine chemistry. The assistance of these men is gratefully acknowledged. Finally, every vol-... [Pg.350]

I gratefully acknowledge the constructive and fruitful cooperation which has been very active between Orsay and several laboratories in physics and chemistry all over Europe, Quebec, and South Korea. The list of colleagues and co-workers who have been involved in the research on molecular superconductors is so long that I would rather refer the reader to the reference list, where the names of colleagues who should be thanked for their cooperation can easily be found. This research has been supported partially by EEC Esprit Basic Research Action 3121, Stimulation Program CI-CT 90-0863 at DG XII, DRET contract 88/198, and CNRS-GDR Qo-... [Pg.488]

Acknowledgements. This work was supported by the European Commission DG XII (INCO-Copemicus Contract No. ERB-IC15-CT96-0809, DG 12 - CDPE), INTAS (Ref. No. 96 -1665 ) and by the Italian Space Agency (Contract No. ASIARS-96-103). [Pg.101]

A roman reference number is appended to each molecule. Not all the electrostatic potential calculations at present available are discussed here, though other examples are considered in the next section. The calculations of W (r) for molecules XII, XV, XX, XXI are presented for the first time. The others have been published before, but some of the maps have been drawn specially for this paper. The kind permission of authors and editors to reproduce some material is here acknowledged. [Pg.107]
