The crude compound may be purified by recrystallization from ethyl acetate, after treatment with decolourizing charcoal, to give pure 5 -butyramido-2 -(2,3-epoxypropoxy)aceto-phenone, MP 136°-138°C. 

Analog lassen sich 2- und 4-Hydroxy-, 2,4-Dihydroxy- und 2,4,6-Trihydroxy-aceto-phenon zu den entsprechenden Athyl-phenolen reduzieren [3-(2,4-Dihydroxy-ben-zoyl)-propansaure wird dagegen nicht angegriffen1 2] (vgl. a.S. 273) (Acyloxy-phenyl)-ketone reagieren ahnlich z.B.3 ... 

Beim 4,cu-Dibrom-acetophenon wird in Ubereinstimmung mit der vorab gebrachten Reaktivitatsreihe mit Chrom(II)-sulfat, Wasser- und Dimethylformamid 4-Brom-aceto-phenon (51% d.Th.) erhalten2. 

Bis zu 96% d.Th. 2,3-Diphenyl-butandiol-(2,3) werden bei der Reduktion von Aceto-phenon erhalten in Methanol/Lithiumbromid unterZusatz von (S,S)-(+)-l,4-Bis-[dime-thylamino]-2,3-dimethoxy-butan mit optischen Ausbeuten von bis zu 6,4% (Ammonium-salze fiihren zu vollstandiger Racemisicrung)7.

Hayashi and his co-workers investigated the reactions of 2-substituted quinoxaline 4-oxides with ketones.210-212 2-Phenylquinoxaline 4-oxide (193) yields 2-phenyl-3-phenacylquinoxaline 4-oxide (203) with acetophenone and sodamide. However, 2-cyanoquinoxaline 4-oxide under these conditions yields cu-(3,4-dihydro-3-oxo-2-quinoxalinyl)aceto-phenone (204) by displacement of the cyano group by the ketone carbanion and rearrangement of the N-oxide.212...

A hydrogen atom on the carbon atom between the carbonyl and the dithiole ring can be substituted by a nitroso group by reaction with nitrous acid in acetic acid at 5°C.50 Sulfury] chloride can also replace this hydrogen atom with chlorine.26 It is also replaced on Vilsmeier-Haack formylation of a (5-aryl-l,2-dithiol-3-ylidene)aceto-phenone.39...

Aceto phenone is the simplest of the aromatic ketones related to secondary aromatic alcohols. It is a crystalline substance m.p. 20.5°, b.p. 202 . It possesses a soporific or hypnotic effect on account of which it is also known as hypnone. Its reactions are those already considered. The oxime produced by the action of hydroxyl amine would, seem to be possible of existence in two stereo-isomeric forms like the benzaldoximes as the two radicals joined to the carbo-oxime group are different. In fact only one oxime is known as has been explained. 

Alkylation a to a cyclopropane ring has also been achieved using activation by the triphenyl-phosphonio and diphenylphosphoryl groups and an aromatic function attached to a carbon atom a to the ring. Reaction of these compounds with a strong base (lithium diisopropylamide or phenyllithium) resulted in anion formation, the anions were treated with benzophenone, iodomethane, and methyl chloroformate, e.g. reaction of 5 with aceto-phenone. ... 

A number of polymerizable ultraviolet stabilizers have been synthesized and their homo- and copolymerization studied. The initial work consisted of the synthesis of vinyl derivatives of methyl salicylate (three isomers), 2, -dihydroxy-benzophenone, and ethyl a-cyano-p-phenylcinnamate. More recently, vinyl derivatives (two isomers) and one isopro-penyl derivative of 2(2-hydroxyphenyl)2H-benzotriazole have been prepared. A number of benzotriazoles with more than one benzotriazole ring in the molecule, or compounds with both benzo(or aceto)phenone and 2(2-hydroxyphenyl)2H-benzo-triazole groups in one molecule, have also been synthesized. Acryloyl and methacryloyl derivatives of benzotriazole-substituted polyphenols have been prepared and homo- and copolymerized.
