Absolute configuration limiting

Absolute-fault limits are typically based on industrial standards for specific classifications of machinery. Generally, these standards are based on a filtered broadband limit and are not adjusted for variables such as speed, load or mounting configuration. However, vibration amplitude and its severity depend on speed and load. Therefore, alert/alarm limits must be adjusted for variations in both of these critical factors. [Pg.718]

The pyruvic acid may also be linked to vicinal positions. When linked to 0-3 and 0-4 of a D-galactopyranosyl residue (40), the dioxolane ring becomes cw-fused. In the limited number of known examples, the absolute configuration at the acetalic carbon atom is (S), as in 40. There are some examples of tra -fused dioxolane rings, and these are more sensitive to hydrolysis with acid than the others. Thus, pyruvic acid is acetalically linked to 0-3 and 0-4 of an a-L-rhamnopyranosyl residue in the Klebsiella type 72 capsular polysaccharide, to 0-2 and 0-3 of an a-D-galactopyranosyl residue in the Streptococcus pneumoniae type 4 capsular polysaccharide, and to 0-2 and 0-3 of a S-D-glucopyranosyluronic acid residue in the Klebsiella K1 capsular polysaccharide. " In the extracellular polysaccharide from... [Pg.305]

The main application fields of pyrethrins are limited to indoor use because of their instability to heat, light, and oxygen. Since the absolute configuration of the six insecticidal components of pyrethrins were elucidated in 1958, various researches on structural modifications have been carried out actively in many countries for more than half a century, leading to the development of a variety of photostable pyrethroids. As a result, they have been widely put into outdoor use for agriculture, forestry, animal health, termite control, and so on. [Pg.15]

Phase-composition diagrams may also be plotted for mixtures of optically pure samples that are structurally similar, but not identical. Such plots have been employed frequently as an empirical correlation to absolute configuration, which is referred to as the method of quasiracemates. The details, variations, limitations, and numerous examples of this method have been presented by others (33). We merely note here that if a phase-composition diagram of the racemic compound type were obtained for a particular pair of enantiomers having known configuration, and if the phase-composition diagram of mix-... [Pg.251]

Between 1926 and 1962, numerous ORD curves of optically active sulfoxides were described in the literature for the visible and ultraviolet (UV) regions. However, down to about 250 nm all compounds investigated showed plain curves with [0] increasing toward shorter wavelengths, and this limited their diagnostic value for the determination of the absolute configuration of these compounds. [Pg.397]

In a study which was conducted simultaneously to the work in the Mehta group and which also aimed to prove the absolute configuration of natural kelsoene (1), Schulz et al. used a stereoselective approach starting from the enantiomerically pure chiral pool material (i )-pulegone 17 [9, 10] (see above). The final steps of their synthesis of the unnatural enantiomer of kelsoene (ent-l) were similar to the above-described first total synthesis of natural kelsoene (1) (Scheme 8). Taking into account the steric limitations of the system as communicated by Srinivas and Mehta, diquinane enone ent-6... [Pg.8]

The application of CPO, HRP and CiP is limited to sterically unencumbered substrates and all these peroxidases produce the same absolute configuration of the chiral hydroperoxide. To overcome this limitation, the semisynthetic enzyme selenosubtilisin, a mimic for glutathione peroxidase, with the peptide framework of the serine protease subtilisin was developed by Bell and Hilvert. This semisynthetic peroxidase catalyzes the reduction of hydrogen peroxide and hydroperoxides in the presence of 5-mercapto-2-nitrobenzoic acid. It was utilized by Adam and coworkers and Schreier and coworkers for the kinetic resolution of racemic hydroperoxides (equation 17) . The results obtained were very promising. [Pg.338]

This method, which in this empirical version has the same limitations as discussed above for the Horeau method, was recently employed in determining the absolute configuration of substituted 1 -phenylethanamines 254. [Pg.462]

Cyclic mew-configurated 1,2-dicarboxylic acid dimethyl esters are excellent substrates for pig liver esterase90. Cyclopropanedicarboxylales have been studied not only for synthetic reasons, but also so that an active-site and/or substrate model of pig liver may be developed13 5. The results obtained, compounds 11-17, are a good demonstration of the scope and limitation of PLE in asymmetric synthesis. Enantiomeric excesses of the monoesters can be determined by conversion into the amides with (S)-l-phenylethylamine and analysis either by GC or H-NMR spectroscopy, whereas the absolute configuration rests on chemical correlation. [Pg.634]

In 1888 Emil Fishcer set our to discover the structure of (+) glucose. Methods for determining absolute configuration had not yet been developed so Fischer arbitrarily limited his atten-... [Pg.124]

In contrast to the somewhat more complicated ligand polarization model and some other related theoretical approaches that are applicable by a limited number of specialists, the simple analysis provided in a black box manner by DFT is expected to afford a new reliable tool on a semiquantitative basis for the future determination of absolute configurations of inorganic complexes even for nonspecialists. [Pg.169]

The limited number of optically active ligands has certainly been a real obstacle for a systematic study of diastereoselectivity in metal complexes. Usually these ligands are synthesized, starting with readily accessible natural substances or with compounds which can easily be separated into antipodes. The synthesis is then performed in such a way that the absolute configuration of the asymmetric center remains unchanged. [Pg.32]
