All these experiments have exhibited, at the beginning of the interaction, an incubation period characterized by a rapid dissolution of the oxides. This initial period is followed by the establishment of the diffusion process. Since the av able experiments were carried out with initial 0 tygen-fi ee Zr, some corrective factors have been introduced in the code modelling to tiy to extrapolate the experimental results to the case of Zr initially pre-loaded with otygen. Based on our practical experiences in the applieation of AE on pressure equipments since 1979, we started in the year 1994 to apply AE on steam drums in combination with pneumatic tests. Before we are able to do this, we have to perform extensive lab tests with the specific material (grey cast iron and cast steel) from which these drums are produced. [Pg.32]

Tunable visible and ultraviolet lasers were available well before tunable infrared and far-infrared lasers. There are many complexes that contain monomers with visible and near-UV spectra. The earliest experiments to give detailed dynamical infonnation on complexes were in fact those of Smalley et al [22], who observed laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) spectra of He-l2 complexes. Foremost we hope - and believe - that chemoinformatics will become of increasing importance in the teaching of chemistry. The instruments and methods that are used in chemistry will continue to swamp us with data and we have to manage these data to increase our chemical knowledge. However, I first had to create my own little research enclave with an atmosphere and spirit conducive to carrying out our work.
