Diffraction patterns and FTIR spectra of skeletal vibrations of the ZSM-5 and ferrierite zeolites indicated high crystallinity of the analyzed samples. The strong band with a chemical shift of about 55 ppm in the 27Al MAS NMR spectra of hydrated zeolites indicated the presence of more than 97 % Al in the framework in tetrahedral coordination the very low intensity of the peak at 0 ppm indicated less than 3 % rel. of Al in octahedral coordination. [Pg.70]

In comparable reaction conditions as Pd +Cu +Y, Pd + and Cu2+ exchanged pentasil and ferrierite zeolites show a different type of activity [31]. The main products formed by propylene oxidation on these catalysts are acrolein and propionaldehyde below 120°C and 2-propanol above 120 C. Above 150°C consecutive oxidation of 2-propano1 to acetone is observed. The catalytic role of Pd and Cu in the 2-propanol synthesis is proposed to follow the Wacker concept. It is striking that when Pd + and Cu2+ are exchanged in 10-membered ring zeolites, oxidation of a primary carbon atoms seems possible, as acrolein and propionaldehyde are obtained from propylene. [Pg.229]

Both piperidine and pyridine serve as structure-directing agents in the commercial production of Ferrierite zeolite. More recently, use of DMAP has allowed preparation of novel metallo-aluminophosphate molecular sieves with both small- <2006W02006037437> and large-pore architecture <2006USA074267>. [Pg.316]

Conversion of n-butane into isobutene over theta-1 and ferrierite zeolites was studied in a continuous flow microreactor at 530°C and 100% n-butane as a feed. The zeolites were used as catalysts in the H- and Ga-forms. Insertion of Ga into the zeolites resulted in improved isobutene selectivities due (i) to an increase in the dehydrogenation activities and (ii) to a decrease in the cracking activities of the catalysts. The highest selectivities to isobutene (-27%) and butenes (-70%) were obtained with the Ga-theta-1 catalyst at n-butane conversions around 10%. These selectivities decreased with increasing conversion due to olefin aromatisation, which was enhanced considerably by the Ga species present in the catalysts. [Pg.194]

The adsorption properties of silver- and cupper-loaded zeolites for C2 and C3 hydrocarbons were investigated to explore excellent materials for cold-start hydrocarbon trap. The adsorption property and the stability of the adsorbents depended significantly on the metal species and host zeolites. It has turned out that silver-loaded ferrierite zeolite is the promising material with excellent olefin selectivity, high adsorption capacity, desirable storage ability and hydrothermal stability. [Pg.162]

This review concerns the synthesis, characterization, and catalytic activity of microporous ferrierite zeolites and octahedral molecular sieves (QMS) and octahedral layer (OL) complexes of mixed valent manganese oxides. The ferrierite zeolite materials along with borosilicate materials have been studied as catalysts for the isomerization of n-butenes to isobutylene, which is an important intermediate in the production of methyltertiarybutylether (MTBE). The CMS materials have tunnels on the order of 4.6 to 6.9 A. These materials have been used in the total oxidation of CO to C02, decomposition of H2O2. dehydrogenation of CeHi4, C0H14 oxidation, 1-C4H3 isomerization, and CH4 oxidation. The manuscript will be divided into two major areas that describes zeolites and OMS/OL materials. Each of these two sections will include a discussion of synthesis, characterization, and catalytic activity. [Pg.47]

Auroux (175) studied the acidity of the small-pore zeolite ferrierite, measuring the differential heats of adsorption of five probe molecules with different basicities. A summary of these results is presented in Table XII. Ammonia adsorption at 423 K indicated the occurrence of two nearly energetically homogeneous site populations, whereas acetonitrile adsorption revealed a... [Pg.204]

The framework of terranovaite (Fig. 1), characterized by a pentasil chain, can be described by the interconnection of the polyhedral subunits 4 6, 4 5 and 5 6. The 4 6 unit has been found in laumontite and boggsite the 4 5 unit has been found in brewsterite, heulandite group zeolites and in synthetic SSZ-23 and SSZ-33 the 5 6 unit has been found in gottardiite, boggsite and in synthetic EU-1. The net of terranovaite projected onto the be plane (Fig. 1) is equivalent to that of many other pentasil zeolites (ferrierite, boggsite, ZSM-5, ZSM-11, theta-1), while the net projected onto the ab plane is equivalent to that of AIPO4-41 [9]. [Pg.85]

Various ferrierite zeolites prepared via different synthetic routes were tested as catalysts for the skeletal isomerization of /J-C5-C7 olefins. The ferrierite samples having a small particle size, low total aluminum content, but a high percentage of aluminum in framework positions, showed the highest activity and selectivity for the reaction and stable catalytic performance with time-on-stream. [Pg.302]

A positive effect of the presence of carbonaceous deposits on the skeletal isomerization of n-butene over a protonic ferrierite zeolite could also be related to a possible reaction mechanism in which the tertiary carbenium ions, which are located in the zeolite pores, act as catalytically active sites. Catalysis was found initially to proceed via oligomerization... [Pg.204]
