Yukon River

Native platinum has also been found in Brazil along with gold in syenite 2 in alluvial material amongst the Urals 3 in sand from the Ivalo River, N. Lapland, associated with the diamond as well as in Borneo, in the sands of the Rhine in County Wicklow, Ireland in New Zealand,4 New South Wales, California, British Columbia and the Yukon River, and in Spain.5... 

West (12) has reviewed some of the evidences of the world-wide distribution of pesticides. Blubber from a gray whale washed up on the California shore, she reported, contained 0.2 p.p.m. of DDT, 0.5 p.p.m. of DDE, and 0.2 p.p.m. of lindane. Moreover, DDT has been found in the oil of fish caught off the coast of the Americas, Europe, and Asia in concentrations ranging from 1 to 300 p.p.m. Residues of DDT have been found in duck eggs on the Yukon River, in 75% of 2300 species of birds collected from 22 states and three provinces of Canada, and in 31 of 32 eagles examined. 

The data (Table I, Figures 2 and 3) clearly show that the majorities of the Cu, Cd, Zn, and Ni were present in the dissolved phase most of the Fe was found in the solid phase. Dissolved and solid phases were equally important for Mn content in these systems. These trends were consistent with the transport of metals in watersheds in eastern Tennessee (24), Maryland (25), and Australia (26) as well as earlier work (27) on the Upper Three Runs Creek and Steel Creek watersheds. However this data does not support the previous work (11) on the transport of metals by the Amazon and Yukon Rivers where most of the Fe as well as the other trace elements were associated with the various components of the solid phase. These differences may be resolved by considering the TSS load which was much higher in the Amazon and...

At the end of the 19 century, gold rushes continued in the border district between Canada and Alaska, at Yukon River, Bonanza Creek and Klondike River. In the first decades of the 20 century important discoveries of gold mixed with copper were made in northwestern Quebec.
