Gold, and more recently iridium, has been considered ideal biomaterials for stents. It is liiglily radio-opaque (it shows clearly in X-ray type analysis) and it is considered inert (corrosion should not be expected of the surface due to its noble characteristics.) Indeed, a gold electrodeposited stainless steel stent made it through clinical trials and it was actually approved for clinical use. " It was, nonetheless, a failure because its rate of restenosis was higher than stents already on tlie market When the production process for the stent was reviewed, it turned out that proper heat treating of the plated surface was not performed. CCL22) are not found in sarcoidosis (145). CCL18, a chemokine without known receptor, was either not detected (146) or was found only in patients with advanced chest X-ray types (147) suggesting that this chemokine is related to fibrosis. Although this chemokine is thought to be responsible for chemotaxis of lymphocytes, no association wither either T-cell subtype was observed. [Pg.175]

KBC-25 M betatron allows to x-ray steel layer with thickness 280-340mtn in an hour at radiation energy of 25 MeV and F=2 m with the help of PT-5, D4, MX-5 and D7 film types. [Pg.515]

At 45 MeV mode BC-50 betatron allows to x-ray steel barrier with 500mm thickness using PT-1 film type at F=3m in less than seven minutes. During one hour exposure and at the same focal distance betatron allows to x-ray 500mm thickness steel on PT-5 film type. And 700mm thickness steel on PT-1 film type. [Pg.515]

At present time, our company is running a development project on the production technology of the MCB type X-ray tubes. The goals of this project are the improvement of the existing technology and making available new tube designs in the near future. [Pg.536]

The changes described above also allowed much easier access to the high voltage cable for routine (6-month) owner directed, service operations, and provided better upper and lower x-ray cabinet and control cabinet ventilation. With the exception of the x-ray tubes, all the individual manufactured components, on all four systems are identical. There are very subtle differences in the warm-up/start-up sequence on the x-ray controllers on the newer systems due to model/year and x-ray tube differences. The last three systems were supplied with environmental type key-boards for the image processors and base-mounted , rather than conduit-mounted exterior warning indicators. The first system was subsequently upgraded to include the better keyboard and the external warning appliances/features. [Pg.611]

The other type of x-ray source is an electron syncluotron, which produces an extremely intense, highly polarized and, in the direction perpendicular to the plane of polarization, highly collimated beam. The energy spectrum is continuous up to a maximum that depends on the energy of the accelerated electrons, so that x-rays for diffraction experiments must either be reflected from a monochromator crystal or used in the Laue mode. Whereas diffraction instruments using vacuum tubes as the source are available in many institutions worldwide, there are syncluotron x-ray facilities only in a few major research institutions. There are syncluotron facilities in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Genuany and Japan. [Pg.1378]

There are many types of electronic detector. The original fomi of electronic detector was the Geiger counter, but it was replaced many years ago by the proportional counter, which allows selection of radiation of a particular type or energy. Proportional counters for x-rays are filled witii a gas such as xenon, and those for... [Pg.1379]
