Writing and Cereal

Secondary Fiber. Increasing costs of taw fiber, legislative mandates for recycling (qv), and avadabdity of inexpensive waste papers have contfibuted to the increased use of recycled fibers. The use of secondary fiber in the United States has grown from 22% of pulp from all sources in 1978 to close to 31% (24 x 10 metric tons) in 1993 (3). Recycled fibers ate sometimes used in special writing papers, but the principal use is for the manufacture of linetboatd, newsprint, tissue, cereal boxes, towels, and molded paper products such as paper plates and egg cartons (see Packaging materials, containers AND INDUSTRIAL materials). 

Let s use the Venn diagram constructed in Chapter Three, which contrasted the differences between cereal and bacon and eggs for breakfast. Sure, the Venn diagram clearly separated the information necessary to respond to the essay prompt that asked the writer to choose between breakfasts, but now what Where do you begin And begin is what you must do to write an essay ...

For practice though, quantities of inexpensive papers are needed. The best source is photocopy (Xerox) paper, available from the quick prim shops which arc now found in most shopping centres. One thousand sheets of A4 (Letter Size) paper can be bought for about the same price as this book.. Alicmaiively. computer paper and writing paper are good qualit) practice papers. If stiff card is needed, cut up cereal boxes, old LP covers and such like. In truth, it hardly matters what you practise with, as no one will see it.
