Stick/SoUd Retail Margarine. Two basic types of stick or solid packaging machinery are used in the United States (62). The first of these forms is a molded print that forces product into a measuring and molding chamber. The molded print is removed from the chamber and then wrapped and cartoned. On the second type of machine, the product from the resting tube is filled directly into a cell that is prelined with a preformed wrapper bag. The wrapping is then folded and ejected from the cell. [Pg.2897]

Polyethylene, as LDPE, LLDPE or a mixture or blend involving combinations of LDPE, MDPE, HDPE, EVA, etc., finds a wide usage in bags, sacks, sachets, overwraps, shrink wraps, stretch wraps, etc. Most deep freeze packs, for example, use LDPE or an LDPE mixture which is produced from a reel on a form fill seal type machine. However, as many of these packs are up to 100% printed, even ink of 2-5 Pm could be considered as a separate layer which modifies some of the physical and chemical properties. As all polyolefins need a surface (oxidative) treatment to ensure a good print key, this or any other surface treatment process may further modify the film properties. [Pg.258]

Figure 11.4). Here the operator wraps the part to be sewn around the machine bed, two opposite edges are joined together by flat and fell seam and it is fed away from the operator, off the end of the bed, as the operator sews (Carr and Latham, 1999). While one end of the cylinder-shaped arm is attached to the machine frame, the sewing happens at the other end, which is open and away from the operator. Here the sewn fabric travels away from the cyhnder bed thus the sewn cylindershaped item automatically comes off the tubular/cylindiical-shaped atm. Shirt sleeve inseams and trouser leg inseams are operations where the flat shape of fabric is converted to a hollow cylinder/conical shape, and a feed-off-arm is the appropriate bed type for these operations. [Pg.279]

Special lathes are required for wrapping. These lathes can be of the same type used in machining monobloc-y sel... [Pg.308]

Chain is the only really continuous production technology used in the jewelry industry. It can be mass produced on specialized chain machines using round, oval, or square wire in a variety of patterns. The production of gold wire is described in Taimsalu [30] and the manufacture and types of chain in a series of articles in Taimsaln [31] and Walters [32]. The wire is fed continuously into the machine, wrapped aronnd shaped steel formers to create the link, cut and the next link is interwoven as the wire is fed in again and the process cycle repeated. [Pg.199]
