Woven fabrics geotextile products

G. H. Troost, G. Den Hoedt, P. Risseeuw, W. Voskamp and H. M. Schmidt, Durability of a 13 year old embankment reiirforced with polyester woven fabric, 5th Int. Conf. Geotextiles, Geomembranes and Related Products, Singapore, IGS (1994) pp. 1185-1190. [Pg.600]

Figure 8.1 indicates that geotextile structures include continuous sheets of non-woven, woven, and warp knitted fabrics, and stitch-bonded fibres or yams. The woven and warp knitted materials can be made to have a similar structure to certain of the textile-related products (essentially geogrids) to be used as alternatives. The non-woven geotextiles can be combined with the textile-related structures to make geocomposite products that are multifunctional. [Pg.281]

Many geotextiles are developed as composites of woven and non woven materials. Examples include needled composites of a woven and a non woven geotextile. This can combine protection layers and filter product. In other examples, polyester yarns are knitted into a nonwoven fabric to create a reinforcement product with a separation functionality. [Pg.222]

Both woven and nonwoven geotextiles are made from four polymeric materials (polyamide, polyester, polyethylene, and polypropylene) and natural materials. Woven geotextiles may be fabricated with monofilament yams, muldfilament yams, or a combination of each. Nonwoven geotextiles are bonded by one of the several methods thermal, mechanical, or chemical. With the many combinations of materials and processes, it is not difficult to see that the physical properties of geotextiles will vary greatiy among products (Yeo, 2008). [Pg.105]

There are a number of purposely fabricated woven and nonwoven geotextiles used for sediment control at storm water inlets. The products are designed to be installed within the inlet and act as the final barrier for sediment. These products can be placed curbside, as shown in Fig. 22.3(a) or placed around an inlet (as in Fig. 22.3(b)) to capture sediment and continue to allow drainage. [Pg.497]
