Whole divergence

In traditional Fan-Beam CT the radiation emitted from the X-ray tube is collimated to a planar fan, and so most of the intensity is wasted in the collimator blades (Fig. 2a). Cone-Beam CT, where the X-rays not only diverge in the horizontal, but also in the vertical direction, allows to use nearly the whole emitted beam-profile and so makes best use of the available LINAC photon flux (Fig. 2b). So fast scanning of the samples three-dimensional structure is possible. For Cone-Beam 3D-reconstruction special algorithms, taking in consideration the vertical beam divergence of the rays, were developed. [Pg.493]

The above-quoted integral equation has been widely used over the last 50 years and to give a detailed aeeount of all its divergent appheations would require a whole book. The interested reader is advised to eonsult several already available review artieles [8-10] as well as a number of exeellent monographs [4-6,11,12]. Here we only mention some direetions of researeh that use the integral equation approaeh and will shortly point some of its advantages as well as limitations and drawbaeks it suffers from. [Pg.246]

One now wonders whether these two phenomena are to be observed also for the whole two-dimensional surface of a crystal non-locking of the crystal surface in spite of lattice periodicity, and divergence of the fluctuation-induced thickening of the interface (or crystal surface), and in consequence the absence of facets. The last seems to contradict experience crystals almost by definition have their charm simply due to the beautifully shining facets which has made them jewelry objects since ancient times. [Pg.859]

The gas flow direction was from the top to bottom of the figure. No divergence is observed in the dispersion curve of the capillary, indicating that under the given conditions the dispersion of flow is small, and that this scheme is thus adequate to study the dispersion within a device of interest. This may appear unexpected, as microfluidic devices are usually assumed to exhibit laminar flow, however it can be explained by the fast lateral diffusion of individual gas molecules, which uniformly sample the whole cross section of the tube in a very short time compared with the travel time. Below each image, its projection is shown together with an independ-... [Pg.159]

Here, a represents the set of all combinations of 1,2, possessing w elements and Kv(x) is the Bessel function of the third kind. This is an analytical extension of the multivariable Epstein-Hurwitz eta-function to the whole complex /x-plane (A.P.C. Malbouisson et.al., 2002). The first term in Eq. (71) leads to a contribution for Ed which is divergent for even dimensions D >2 due to the pole of the T-function. We renormalize Ed by subtracting this contribution, corresponding to a finite renormalization when D is odd. [Pg.212]

The characterisation of LAS degradation in the marine environment requires laboratory experiments, although due to the special characteristics of this compartment (e.g. its high salinity and its normally oligotrophic status) and the numerous variables that affect it, divergent results may be obtained. Marine-specific bacterial communities cannot be cultivated as a whole in standard media due to the difficulty of reproducing original ecosystem conditions where they have been... [Pg.620]

Following this new Copemican revolution, far from being horrified by the remoteness of the stars and by the tremendous divergence operating across the whole Universe, astronomers set abont drawing up an overview of the new paradigm and determining its structural and chemical evolution. [Pg.36]

Foster Absolutely. The point 1 was trying to make is that the known photosensory opsins are highly conserved, whilst the whole opsin family shows considerable divergence. [Pg.26]

Leading recoil corrections in Za (of order (Za) (m/M)") still may be taken into account with the help of the effective Dirac equation in the external field since these corrections are induced by the one-photon exchange. This is impossible for the higher order recoil terms which reflect the truly relativistic two-body nature of the bound state problem. Technically, respective contributions are induced by the Bethe-Salpeter kernels with at least two-photon exchanges and the whole machinery of relativistic QFT is necessary for their calculation. Calculation of the recoil corrections is simplified by the absence of ultraviolet divergences, connected with the purely radiative loops. [Pg.14]

In the case of the EMS mode of Eq. (45), the limit of zero rest mass corresponds to cos a = 0. In this limit where cos a and mo are exactly equal to zero, the result is like that of a conventional axisymmetric EM mode that either diverges at the axis or at infinity, and must be discarded as pointed out in Section VII.A.l on branch 1 of solutions. Therefore the present results hold only for a nonzero rest mass, but this mass can be allowed to become very small. This implies that the quantum conditions me2 = hv for the total energy and 5 = h/2n for the angular momentum are satisfied for a whole class of small values of cos a and the corresponding rest mass. [Pg.45]
