Water draw stream

We first enter the column environment as shown in Figure 2.73. We can then double click on the column environment to bring up the advanced configuration for this column. From this interface, we can add non-standard units such as fhermosiphon reboilers, etc. ffowever for this example, we will focus on adding a water draw. We select the Side Draws section and create an additional WATER DRAW stream at tray 27 (the bottom tray) as shown in Figure 2.74. [Pg.107]

The output gas is analyzed and is found to contain 1.5 mole% water. Draw and label a flowchart of the process, and calculate all unknown stream variables. [Pg.92]

Sample preparation Condition a 3 mL 500 mg Sep-Pak with 10 mL MeOH and 10 mL water at 3 mL/min (do not allow to dry). 5 mL Serum + 50 p,L 10 p.g/mL ormetoprim in water, vortex for 15 s, allow to stand for 5 min, add 2 mL pH 11 NaH2P04 (pH adjusted with 5 M NaOH), vortex for 10 s, add 30 mL dichloromethane, shake for 10 min, extract aqueous phase again with 20 mL dichloromethane. Combine organic layers and shake them with 10 mL 150 mM sulfuric acid. Remove 8 mL of the aqueous layer and add it to 10 mL phosphate buffer (adjusted to pH 6 with 1M NaOH), add this to the SPE cartridge, wash with 10 mL water, draw air through the cartridge for 1 min, elute with 1 mL MeOH, evaporate the eluate at 50° under a stream of nitrogen, reconstitute the residue in 1 mL mobile phase, filter (0.45 p.m), inject a 50 p.L aliquot. [Pg.1410]

Despite the advantages mentioned above, using ammonia has several drawbacks. Addition of ammonia beyond neutralization, i.e. pH to> 7, is a dangerous practice if copper alloys are present in the condensing system or down-stream of it in the water draw-off. At pH values in excess of 7 to 8.5 (depending on the source quoted), copper forms the soluble cuprammonium complex and deterioration of such materials as CDA 443-445 (Admiralty) can be expected. [Pg.208]

Drawing a stream of air over the surface by inserting a tube, connected to a water pump, above the mixture. [Pg.151]

Debris particles that are heavier than water migrate to the outer wall area and slither down into a collection bowl that is periodically blown down. Very little water is lost. Typical performance is 97.8% of solids with specific gravity exceeding 1.2 down to 45 microns. Side stream filtration is more common in cooling tower applications. The scheme uses a small dedicated pump to draw dirty water from the sump, direct it through a filtration device and sent it back to the basin. [Pg.88]

From the compositions given, calculate the stream flows for the production of absolute alcohol from 100 kmol/h raw alcohol feed, composition 89 per cent ethanol, balance water. Take the benzene losses to total 0.1 kmol/h. Draw a preliminary flow-sheet for the process. [Pg.191]

Musty and Nickless [353] used Amberlite XAD-4 for the extraction and recovery of chlorinated insecticides and PCBs from water. In this method a glass column (20 x 1 cm) was packed with 2 g XAD-4 (60 - 85 mesh), and 1 litre of tap water (containing 1 part per 109 of insecticides) was passed through the column at 8 ml/min. The column was dried by drawing a stream of air through, then the insecticides were eluted with 100 ml ethyl ether-hexane (1 9). The eluate... [Pg.419]

Before the final placement is made on a monitor location during a design preparation, based solely on the distance a water stream can reach, verification should be made that an obstruction does not exist which can block the water stream. Typical practice is to draw "coverage circles" from the monitor on a plot plan. Where... [Pg.212]

A facility drawing water from a stream or lake should either have independent locations from which to draw from or have a back-up supply from the city system or a private well. Care should be taken when using potable and nonpotable sources so that cross-contamination does not occur. [Pg.170]

Stream. Lobster, tail-waving newts, and possibly fanning fish produce information currents that propel chemical signals toward recipients. In the lobster, the female sends a current with pheromone into the male s shelter. The male, in turn, draws water toward himself and fans it out into the surroundings, signaling his mating status (Atema, 1986). [Pg.17]
