Virtual simulation

The discovery of pharmaceuticals commences with the scanning of hundreds of compounds, whether with actual materials (irrational approach) or virtual simulations (rational approach). To discover biopharmaceuticals, we have to examine the compounds within us, for example, hormones or other biological response modihers, and determine how they affect the biological processes. In some cases, we study pathogens such as the influenza virus or bacteria to derive the vaccines. In other cases, we copy these biological response modifiers and use them as replacement therapy. [Pg.94]

Abstract A novel colorimetric method, digital color analysis (DCA), was proposed using a digital color analyzer and was applied to various quantitative analyses using chromatic-ity coordinates and suitable sensors for visual colorimetry based on the characteristics of human visual perception by virtual simulations based on digital color information. On the basis of DCA, we developed a visual colorimetric sensor for Li+, NH4+ and protein determination by the mixing of two kinds of lipophilic dyes, whose optimum mixing ratio... [Pg.343]

In silico modebng and simulation can be applied at every stage of the drug development process, from tbe virtual simulation of a cellular function, e.g. tbe whole network of molecular interactions involved in cell biology, to modeling virtual populations. [Pg.494]

In order to minimize disturbing light conditions and differences of contrasts between the physical environment and the virtual simulation, high brightness is especially important for see-through HMDs. [Pg.2506]

After obtaining the mechanical properties, numerical analysis by Means of the Finite Element Method (FEM) with explicit integration of dynamic equilibrium equation was carried out. These numerical techniques allow for obtaining reliable results of impacts against polypropylene sheets. Virtual simulations allow for obtaining the maximum displacements in the sheets, the kinetic energy reduction of the semisphere and the energy absorbed by the sheet in the load cases analyzed. [Pg.60]

One of the crucial part of company s IT system is a network (computer and telecommunication), which enables, a company communication with business partners and customers. Development of business needs may imply a necessity of appUcation new network devices. Each of them, before connection to company s network, should be check if it is compatible with actually used devices. These tests require owning a network device, but a buying of it is expensive and it may be a result of not conducting the tests. Some network device manufactures are preparing a virtual simulator which enable, an administrator, checking how a planned changes would be influence on company s network work. [Pg.1920]

A presurgical simulation method has been presented that uses interactive virtual simulation with 3D computer graphics data and microscopic observation of color-printed plaster models based on these data (48). [Pg.311]

An interactive virtual simulation was performed by modifying the 3D data to imitate various surgical procedures, such as bone drilling, brain retraction, and tumor removal, with manipulation of a haptic device. Also, color-printed plaster models were produced using a selective laser sintering method (48). [Pg.311]

Virtual simulation of fiber optic endoscopy can be obtained with a new software tool based on surface or volume rendering techniques, called virtual cholangioscopy when specifically applied to the study of the biliary system (Dubno et al. 1998 Neri et al. 1999a-c Prassopoulos et al. 1998). [Pg.313]

Since one cannot expect in all cases valid outlet variables of state for the elements connected in series to be already available at a specific time for determining the variables of state of a specific circuit element at a given point of time, the simulation algorithm is so often cyclically repeated for all elements until all calculated variables of state in two successive simulation runs are identical (virtual simulation). Under specific circumstances, for example in case of a feedback of elements with the delay times "zero", several truth values alternate irrespective of the number of simulation runs. In such cases the simulation is terminated after N runs (N = empirically determined value for the maximum number of virtual simulation runs) and the value X = undefined is assigned to the corresponding variables of state. [Pg.142]

A Virtual Simulator for the Embedded Control System Design for Navigation of Mobile Robots applied in Wheelchairs... [Pg.202]

The controller implementation in the embedded system uses a rapid protot5q)ing technique, which allows, along with the virtual simulation environment, the development of a controller design for mobile robots. After being tested and validated in the simulator, the control system is programmed into the memory of the embedded mobile robot board. In this way, time and material are economized by first virtually validating the entire model and then operating the physical implementation of the system. [Pg.203]
