Vestibular disorders

Certain vestibular disorders respond to antimuscarinic drugs (and to antihistaminic agents with antimuscarinic effects). Scopolamine is one of the oldest remedies for seasickness and is as effective as any more recently introduced agent. It can be given by injection or by mouth or as a transdermal patch. The patch formulation produces significant blood levels over 48-72 hours. Useful doses by any route usually cause significant sedation and dry mouth.

Vinca alkaloids can have ototoxic effects, such as tinnitus and transient hearing loss. In addition, vestibular disorders can cause dizziness, nystagmus, and vertigo (67,68). 

Vestibular disorders are dizziness, unsteadiness, or imbalance when walking. Vertigo, nausea, headache, and muscular aches in the neck and back, motion sickness, and sensitivity to noise and bright lights may be mild (lasting minutes) or severe (resulting in total disability).
