Koronit. One of the Ger expls of the chlora-tite class, developed during WWI in order to conserve NG. It contains K nitrate and/or Na nitrate 70—80, Nitroderivatives of toluene and/or diphenylamine and/or naphthalene 12—20, vegetable meal 1—5, solid hydrocarbons and/or oils and fats 3—5 NG (not gelatinized) 2—6%... [Pg.554]

A similar expl mixture was used in Sweden under the name of Novit. HNDPhA was also used by the Germans prior to WWII in the mixtures contg 10—40% of PA, DNT, DNN and vegetable meal 0—4%. It was also used in commercial expls known as Neurodits. These expls contd surplus military expls of WWI, mostly TNT. A mixture of HNDPhA with A1 powder was known as Schiesswolle 18 or TSMVI-101 (Ref 33)... [Pg.330]

One of the most effective physical adsorbents is activated carbon, Kieselguhr, formerly used in dynamites, is also an effective adsorbent. Other physical adsorbents include activated alumina, clays, silica, charcoal, sawdust, wood pulp, vegetable meals, carbene and various salts. Some of these substances(sawdust, meals, AN,... [Pg.105]

Bebie(Ref 3) gives two examples a)NG 62.5, NC 2.5, Na nitrate 27.0 and wood pulp 8.0% and b) NG 36, NC 2, vegetable meal 2, nitrates and/or perchlorates 52 nitro-compoundsfof toluene, naphthalene or di phenylamine) 8%. Bebie also cites Gel-Coalites as a brand of gelatinous permissible expls manufd by the Atlas Powder Co of Wilmington, Del, but does not give their composns Refs 1)C.E.Munroe C.Hall, USBurMines Bull 80(1915) 2)Davis(l943),344-5 3)Bebie (1943), 73-4... [Pg.167]

Composition Nitroglycerine, gelatinized with 2-6 per cent of collodion cotton, is absorbed in a vegetable meal for the purpose of tempering its action, with addition of enough saltpeter or other nitrates to bum the wood meal completely. The mixture of meal and nitrates is called the dope. It may also contain a small amount of antacid. Composed of 45-65 per cent blasting gelatine and 55-35 per cent mixed dope. [Pg.73]
