Some authors stress the fact that vancomycin can interact with anesthetic drugs, particularly muscle relaxants. In the reported cases anaphylactoid reactions were seen, with intense erythema and marked permeability changes (125).

Also avoid giving vancomycin if the patient has taken any aminoglycosides because they increase the potential for ototoxicity (ear) and nephrotoxicity (kidney). Drug interactions occur with many commonly prescribed medications and are mostly due to naproxen s effects on renal prostaglandins and the associated changes in kidney filtration rate, although many other mechanisms exist. Many drug interactions exist, with examples being ACE inhibitors, beta blockers, methotrexate, lithium, probenecid, antiplatelet agents, diuretics, and vancomycin. 

Drugs that may interact with vancomycin include aminoglycosides, anesthetics, neurotoxic/nephrotoxic agents, and nondepolarizing muscle relaxants.
