Vacuum Conveying of Powders and Bulk Materials

In the chemical industry vacuum conveying is mainly used for the transport of raw materials and additives which are required for the various processes and treatments. Transferred are bulk materials like powders, dusts and granules and sometimes even viscous products or liquids. [Pg.311]

Similar conveying tasks are to be found in the production steps of making pharmaceuticals and around food processing. In all these cases the material to be conveyed is picked-up at a certain location in the plant by vacuum. After transportation over a given height and distance the powders and bulk materials are discharged and fed actively at the desired destination. [Pg.311]

A look at the above-mentioned configuration possibilities lead to a first determination of the parameters given by the layout of the plant, especially the conveying height and total conveying distance. [Pg.311]

Due to the large number of parameters and often difficult to measure properties, given by the huge range of powders and bulk materials, the standard method for selecting the right type of vacuum conveyor is to conduct 1 1 scale vacuum conveying trial. [Pg.311]
