University of Freiburg

Heinrich Kiliani (1855-1945) was born in Wiirzburg. Germany, and received a Ph.D. at the University of Munich with Emil Erlenmeyer. He was professor of chemistry at the University of Freiburg, where he worked on the chemistry of the heart stimulant drug digitoxin.

WINDAUS, ADOLF (1876-1959). A German chemist who won the Nobel prize for chemistry in 1928. His work involved the study of steroids and the effect of ultraviolet light activity, ergosterol, and vitamin D2. He also researched digitalis and histamine. Although he studied medicine, he received his doctorate in chemistry at the University of Freiburg.

Tomas Koch is a principal in McKinsey s Seoul office where he heads the Asian chemicals practice. He joined the Firm in 1992 and has led a variety of strategic, operational, and organizational engagements in the chemical industry. Tomas Koch studied economics and physics and has a PhD in polymer physics from the University of Freiburg.
