In many countries, all additives permitted are summarized in a single list. Examples are relevant regulations in the Scandinavian countries, Germany, and Switzerland. In countries such as the United Kingdom, authorization of food additives is controlled by individual regulations, with reference to specified groups of additives. Some countries have authorizations within product regulations for certain foods. In addition, mixed systems exist, e.g., in the USA. [Pg.493]

In UAE, the Health Authority requests 3 approvals from the listed 20 countries (UAE MOH 1998), namely, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, New Zealand, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Switzerlemd, United Kingdom and United States. [Pg.170]

Health and Safety Legislation in the United Kingdom. The health and safety regulatory provisions fall into 4 categories. The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) is responsible for producing, disseminating and enforcing Occupational Exposure Limits in the Republic of Ireland. In the UK, the United Kingdom Ethics Committees Authority (UKECA) is responsible for establishing, recognising and monitoring ethics committees. The Authority may establish ethics committees to act for the entire UK or for each area of the UK and the description or class of clinical trial in relation to which it may act.
