TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE

Some of the problems encountered in drying are a result of the following actions by the user  [Pg.756]

Changing the product formulation that the dryer was originally intended to process. [Pg.756]

Changing the solvent used to process the material to be dried. This will affect the performance of the solvent recovery system. It may also affect the materials of construction if a particularly nasty solvent is used such as methylene chloride. For resistance to chloride attack, a dryer of stainless steel construction may now need to be made of a higher nickel alloy such as Hastelloy or Monel. [Pg.756]

Changing the process parameters. Temperature, pressure and work (agitators, mechanical action) all affect the end product in some way. Temperature is the most visible parameter. Agitation can be critical in both breaking up a product in a lump form or it may cause the imdesirable effect of churning the product into a very difficult paste. Products which are thixotropic or dilatant are most affected by agitation. [Pg.756]

Product melting or liquifying in dryer. Check if there is bound water present and reduce product temperature exposure. [Pg.757]

These plans will also serve as a trouble shooting guide and repair manual for future reference. The material may also be of some value for home repair of commercial night scopes. [Pg.103]

In most cases, control of breakpoint chlorination requires the use of accurate and reliable automatic equipment to reduce the need for manual process control by operators. However, the operator must give special attention to this equipment and monitoring devices in order to ensure their proper operation. Table 3 indicates how the common process shortcomings can be compensated and improved. Table 4 is a wastewater chlorination process trouble-shooting guide for use by practicing environmental engineers. [Pg.410]

Table 8 indicates the common process shortcomings and their respective solutions. Table 9 is a sludge chlorination trouble shooting guide. [Pg.424]

As you use the simulator take notes on what you do and what works. If someone shows you how to do something, insist on doing it yourself—and then make a note of how to do it. Without notes, you may find it difficult to repeat some of the steps even if they were done just 15 minutes earlier. If difficulties persist, see the Appendix A. Aspen Plus Separations Trouble Shooting Guide. at the end of the book. [Pg.113]

Prerequisite This appendix assumes you are familiar with Appendix 2A fin Chapter 21. which included Labs 1 and 2, and that you are able to do basic steps with your simulator. If you need to, use the instructions in Lab 1 as a refresher on how to use Aspen Plus. If problems persist while trying to run the simulations, see Appendix A. Aspen Plus Separations Trouble Shooting Guide, at the end of the book. [Pg.208]

A wide variety of roof bolts are now available, and installation problems may be caused by geologic changes, incorrect practices, or malfunctioning supports. To help identify and resolve problems with roof supports, an extremely valuable Trouble Shooting Guide is available (Mazzoni et al. 1996). [Pg.355]
