Dialkyl zinc compounds form phosphine complexes of formula RZnP(SiMe3)2 on addition of one equivalent of bis(trimethylsilyl)phosphine. Solution and solid-state studies showed that the complexes are dimeric or trimeric in solution or the solid state. Bis(trimethylsilyl)phosphido-methylzinc crystallizes as a trimeric molecule with a Zn3P3 core in the twist-boat conformation. Bis(trimethylsilyl)phosphido- -butylzinc, shows a similar central Zn3P3 fragment. The sterically more demanding trimethylsilylmethyl substituent forms a dimeric species of bis(trimethylsilyl) phosphido-trimethylsilylmethylzinc. Solution studies of bis(trimethylsilyl)phosphido- .vo-propyl-zinc demonstrate a temperature-dependent equilibrium of the dimeric and trimeric species and the crystalline state contains a 1 1 mixture of these two oligomers. A monomeric bis(trimethyl-silyl)phosphido-tris(trimethylsilyl)methylzinc has also been synthesized.313... [Pg.1170]

The tertiary phosphine PEt3, in the presence of nickel(II) aquacations and H2S, form diamagnetic tri- and enneanuclear dications having formulae [Nig(p3-S)2(PEt3)g]3+ and [Nig(y3-S)g(y4-S)3]2+. The first complex is formed by a trigonal bipyramidal kernel of two apical sulfur atoms and three equatorial nickel ions. The structure of the second compound consists of nine nickel ions located at the apices of two confacial octahedra. [Pg.488]

Phosphine oxides. Few molecular complexes of trivalent transplutonium elements have been reported. Several studies examine the extraction chemistry of Am, Cm, and Bk with a combination of /3-diketones and tri-n-alkyl phosphine oxides and tiialkylphosphates. From these, compounds reported to be of the formula AnF3(R3PO) c (An = Am, Cm R = n-octyl, Bu"0) were isolated, where L = CF3COCHCOR (R = Me, CF3, Bu ). The stoichiometry of the complexes (An P=0) was not always reported. The complex Am(CF3COCHCOCF3)3[OP(OBu )3]2 is reported to be volatile at 175 °C. ... [Pg.317]

The chloramidation of tertiary amines by introducing gaseous chloramide (chloramine) into the anhydrous amine or a solution of the amine in an inert solvent results in the formation of 1,1,1-trisubstituted hydrazonium chlorides. It has been found that a similar chloramidation reaction with tertiary phosphines can be made to yield analogous compounds of the general formula [R3PNH2]C1, i.e., F,P,P-trisubstituted aminophosphonium chlorides. The following aminophosphonium chlorides were prepared by this reaction P,P,P-triphenyl P,P,P-tri-n-butyl P-phenyl-P,P-(cyclotetramethylene) and P-phenyl-P,P-(cyclopenta-methylene). The methodforthe preparation of (triphenyl)-aminophosphonium chloride is given as representative of the procedure. [Pg.67]

Thus, the in situ reaction of octahedral Fe° with one equivalent of the tridentate phosphine triphos produces the tritopic, angled aeeeptor unit e triphos (Scheme 1), which is classified an A a building block since it is able to bind three strong donors on the underside of the Fe ion (ln/i/io.s= 1,1,1-tris(diphenylphosphinomethane)ethane). The ditopic, linear dicyano ligand (1) is considered to be an component. When these materials are combined in solution in the correct stoichiometry, an assembly having the formula [((tnp/mi)Fe)4(l)6] is formed spon-... [Pg.624]
