Tris amine nickel complex

Most of the template syntheses of nonbenzenoid macrocycles originated with Curtis (39) and involve the condensation of metal-amine complexes with aliphatic carbonyl compounds, e.g., the reaction of acetone with tris(diaminoethane)nickel(II) perchlorate at ambient temperature leads to the isolation of three products, two of which may be represented as cts-XLIX and trans-L and the other is formed by a further interconversion of complex L in solution (39,143). With Cu(II) diaminoperchlorates, a mixture of cis and trans complexes analogous to XLIX and L is formed, but with Co(II) only the trans analog of L has been isolated. A review has appeared on the synthesis and reactivity of (sUylamino) and (silyl-anilino)phosphines. The S5mthesis, derivatisation and coordination behaviour of the morpholine (69) and piperazine (70) derivatives have been described. They are formed from the appropriate amine with diphenylchlorophosphine, and both react with sulfur or selenium to give the chalcogenide, whilst reaction of (69) with paraformaldehyde leads to insertion of methylene into the P N bond to give the phosphine oxide. The reaction between ethylenediamine and diphenylchlorophosphine can lead to the bis-, tris- and tetrakis(diphenylphosphino)ethylene-diamines, depending upon the stoichiometry. The ligands tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine (tpma), tris(3,5-dimethyl-l-pyrazolylmethyl)amine (metpyma) and tris(3,5-dimethyl-l-pyrazolylethyl)amine (metpyea) are examples of tetraden-tate tripod-shaped ligands containing three heterocyclic nitrogen donors connected to an apical tertiary nitrogn donor by.aliphatic chains. Metal template syntheses of complexes incorporating the p-amino imine fragment have been introduced by Curtis as a result of his discovery that tris(l,2-diaminoethane)nickel(II) perchlorate reacted slowly with acetone to yield the macrocyclic complexes (40) and (41) (equation 8).81-83 In this macrocyclic structure the bridging group is diacetone amine imine, arising from the aldol condensation of two acetone molecules. This reaction is widely general, in the same way that the aldol reaction is, and can be applied to many types of amine complexes. The subject has been reviewed in detail with respect to macrocyclic complexes by Curtis.84... 

Hydroxylation of alkenes with m-chloroperbenzoic acid is efficiently catalysed by an Ni(II)-tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine complex. The participation of an NiO+ (nickel-oxo) active species has been suggested.230... 

Macrobicyclic cascade cryptands have also been prepared such as the series of bis(tren) derived (tren = tris(2-aminoethyl) amine, see Section 4.4.3) compounds 5.9. Lattermann et al. reported the first metallomesogenic dendrimer when they described results on trigonal bipyramidal metal complexes of ethylene-imine dendrimers of the first and second generation, based on derivatives of tris(2-aminoethyl)amine. Complexes of cobalt, nickel, copper, and zinc were prepared and found to exhibit relatively low temperature mesophases, which generally possessed hexagonal columnar structures. These materials therefore provided the first examples of metallomesogenic dendrimers [72,73]. 

The reaction in Eq. (22) is an example of the complete destruction of the original cluster the amine ligands on tin were replaced by tri(phenyl)siloxy groups with quantitative formation of the amine Me2Si[NtBu(H)]2, but the nickel-tin bonds are lost and bond fission was observed. Besides the formation of elemental tin, the di-nuclear complex [(Ph3Si 0)2Sn]2 was obtained as a white crystalline product and characterized unambiguously by an X-ray structure determination.
