Trims and accessories

Trims and accessories are used to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the garment. But any defect in the accessories used in the finished product is bound to invite customer complaints about a garment that is otherwise considered to be of good quality. 

In the garment industry, trims and accessories are used in a wide variety and in a huge quantity. This makes the 100% inspection of trims and accessories an almost impossible task. Moreover, inspection alone cannot assure quality. Hence, there is a need to establish an effective and efficient procurement system for trims as a preventive measure. This involves the following steps ... 

Establishing the purchasing data. Before procurement of trims and accessories, it is necessary to develop specifications for the items to be purchased. It is always better to have standard trim cards (duly approved by buyers) for each style in duplicate, a copy of which may be sent to the vendors along with the purchase order. The purchase order should clearly mention the specifications of trims like color, shade, and measurement (width and length) with tolerance limit, and where applicable the appropriate standard to which the product should conform. 

Ubiquitin-protein ligases promote not only the attachment of ubiquitin to the protein substrates but also the extension of the ubiquitin chain. What determines the choice between mono- vs. polyubiquitination is not well understood. It is possible that certain E3s catalyze only mono-ubiquitination. Alternatively, factors other than E3s might be responsible for the attachment of a single ubiquitin. Eor example, ubiquitin-binding accessory proteins have been suggested to block extension of the ubiquitin chain [25], whereas E3-associated ubiquitin hydrolase could trim down the polyubiquitin chain. The identification and characterization of ubiquitin E2 variant proteins (UEVs) have provided an explanation for the assembly of K63-linked polyubiquitin chains [26, 27]. As discussed later, UEVs can be considered as special E3s, with the ubiquitin chain as their substrates. 

Designing and production of hats Designers create hats and hair accessories by drawing a detailed sketch, complete with trim, from which a sample is made. Designers consider the appeal, wearability, proportion, and price point when creating hat and hair accessories. Hats may be woven, felted, knitted, or crocheted. Buckram may form the base of a fashion hat that will ultimately be covered in fashion fabric.
