Solid phase extraction (SPE) has been used to efficiently extract several types of antidepressants, which can then be conveniently analyzed on GC-NPD. One assay extracted and analyzed viloxazine, venlafaxine, imipramine, desipramine, sertraline, and amoxapine from whole blood in one procedure (Martinez et al., 2002). The same laboratory analyzed fluoxetine, amitriptyline, nortriptyline, trimipramine, maprotiUne, clomipramine, and trazodone in whole blood in one assay (Martinez et al., 2003). SPE has also been used for the simultaneous analysis of TCAs and their metabolites by de la Torre et al. (1998). [Pg.11]

Q69 Urinary retention may occur with the use of trimipramine. Trimipramine has antimuscarinic activity. [Pg.146]

Trimipramine is a tricyclic antidepressant with sedative properties that is used in the management of depression. As with other tricyclic antidepressants, trimipramine has antimuscarinic activity and therefore side-effects include dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation and urinary retention. [Pg.167]

There are four classes of antidepressants tricyclic antidepressants (imipramine, trimipramine, amitriptyline, doxepin, desipramine, protriptyline, nortriptyline, amoxapine, maprotiline) monoaminooxidase (MAO) inhibitors (phenelzine, isocarboxazid, tranylcypromine) second-generation antidepressants or atypical antidepressants, which are a chemically dissimilar group of recently proposed drugs (bupropion, trazodone, fluoxetine) and amphetamines and other stimulators of the CNS (dextroamphetamine, methylphenidate). [Pg.103]

Trimipramine Trimipramine, 5- [3 -(dimethy lamino)-2-methyIpropyI] -10,11 -dihydro-5/f-dibenz[b,f]-azepine (7.1.2), is synthesized in the exact manner as imipramine, alkylating I0,II-dihydro-5/7-dibenz[b,f]azepine with 3-dimethylamino-2-methylpropylchloride [4,5] instead of 3-dimethylaminopropylchloride, as it was in the case of imipramine. [Pg.105]

As with imipramine, it is used for depression of various etiology. In terms of efficacy, it is analogous to imipramine. Surmontil is a synonym of trimipramine. [Pg.105]

Doxepin Patients with glaucoma or a tendency for urinary retention. Cross-sensitivity may occur among the dibenzazepines (clomipramine, desipramine, imipramine, nortriptyline, and trimipramine). In addition, dibenzoxepines (doxepin, amoxapine) may produce cross-sensitivity. [Pg.1038]

Pregnancy Category D- amitriptyline, imipramine, nortriptyline Category C -amoxapine, clomipramine, desipramine, doxepin, protriptyline, trimipramine). Lactation These agents are excreted into breast milk in low concentrations. [Pg.1040]

Children Not recommended for patients younger than 12 years of age. Safety and efficacy are not established for amoxapine in children younger than 16 years of age or trazodone or clomipramine in children younger than 10 years of age. The safety and efficacy of imipramine as temporary adjunctive therapy for nocturnal enuresis in pediatric patients younger than 6 years of age have not been established. The safety of the drug for long-term, chronic use as adjunctive therapy for nocturnal enuresis in pediatric patients 6 years of age and older has not been established. Safety and efficacy are not established in the pediatric age group for trimipramine, nortriptyline, protriptyline, and desipramine. [Pg.1040]
