Blown film extrusion is perhaps the most widely used extrusion technique, by production volume. The polymer produced in highest volume is polyethylene. Invented by the British, who call it polythene, and put into production in 1939, it could for a long time only be produced by the oxygen-catalyzed polymerization of ethylene at pressures near 40,000 Ib/in.. Such pressures are expensive and dangerous to maintain on an industrial scale. The polyethylene produced has a low density and is used primarily to make film for bags of all types— from sandwich bags to trash can liners. The opaque appearance of polyethylene is due to crystallites, regions of order in the polymer that resemble... 

You can retrieve a file that you have deleted by opening the Recycle Bin icon, then dragging the file from the Recycle Bin back to the disk it came from. To permanently erase the file, you need to empty the Recycle Bin, thereby permanently deleting any items in it and freeing up the hard drive space they took up. If the Recycle Bin has files in it, its icon will look like the full trash can shown on the left of Figure 12.16 after it is emptied, its icon will reflect this, as shown on the right. 

Surprisingly, it is better to coat steel with another metal that does corrode. Trash cans, for example, are made of zinc-coated steel. This coating does not stop corrosion. But the zinc corrodes first, making the steel underneath last much longer than it would without the zinc layer.
