Traceability documentary

Before the release system, all inspection and test operations are ensured to have been satisfactorily completed, and all documentary evidence is reviewed and completed with product identification and traceability. 

Documentary traceability, which consist of finding raw data and all documents used before the issue of the analysis report. 

An important feature of this approach is that only the standards that realize the unit of length require a documentary chain of evidence that links to the definition of the meter. In a typical dimensional measurement, there are many influence quantities that contribute to the uncertainty associated with the end result, such as workpiece temperature and thermal expansion coefficient. If it were required that all such influence quantities themselves be metrologically traceable, then since each of the quantities depends on other quantities and so on, such a requirement would lead to an infinite regress. 

The value and quality of a measurement result is conveyed by the validity and acceptance of the accompanying uncertainty statement. By formally linking the realization of the unit (e.g., the meter) to recognized standards via specified documentary requirements, metrological traceability can enhance the confidence of the consumer of the result that it can be used in subsequent decision making with an acceptable level of risk.
