Three High product

The three main sources of competitive advantage in the manufacture of high value protein products are first to market, high product quaUty, and low cost (3). The first company to market a new protein biopharmaceutical, and the first to gain patent protection, enjoys a substantial advantage. The second company to enter the market may find itself enjoying only one-tenth of the sales. In the absence of patent protection, product differentiation becomes very important. Differentiation reflects a product that is purer, more active, or has a greater lot-to-lot consistency. [Pg.42]

Boron. Virtually all United States boron production and about three-fifths of the world production comes from bedded deposits and lake brines in California. U.S. reserves are adequate to support high production levels. Turkey is the only other boron-producing country of significance. Only about 5% of boron production is used in agriculture. [Pg.245]

The reaction of phosphoms trichloride and water is highly exothermic and vigorous. Depending on the mole ratio of H2O/PCl, three different products can result from hydrolysis. If the ratio is greater than 3, phosphonic acid is produced ... [Pg.366]

Where the product is in rigid boxes or cartons, it is possible to stack pallets up to three high without auxiliary support, i.e. one on the other. [Pg.167]

Turning to enzymatic hydration, we see from the data in Table 10.1 that phenanthrene 9,10-oxide Fig. 10.10, 10.29) is an excellent substrate for epoxide hydrolase. Comparison of enzymatic hydration of the three isomeric phenanthrene oxides shows that the Vmax with the 9,10-oxide is greater than with the 1,2- or the 3,4-oxide the affinity was higher as well, as assessed by the tenfold lower Km value [90]. Furthermore, phenanthrene 9,10-oxide has a plane of symmetry and is, thus, an achiral molecule, but hydration gives rise to a chiral metabolite with high product enantioselectivity. Indeed, nucleophilic attack by epoxide hydrolase occurs at C(9) with inversion of configuration i.e., from below the oxirane ring as shown in Fig. 10.10) to yield the C-H9.S, 10.S )-9,10-dihydro-9,10-diol (10.30) [91],... [Pg.628]

There is no information so far available about mannan degrading enzymes of alkaliphiles. In this paper, a P-mannan degrading alkaliphile Bacillus sp. AM-001) with high productivities of cell-associated P-mannosidase and three extracellular P-... [Pg.52]

For existing substances, the data collection consists of three phases. The ESR was initially concerned with the so-called HPVCs (High Production Volume Chemicals). HPVCs are those substances, which are covered by the data collection phases I and II of the ESR, i.e., those substances which have been imported or produced in quantities exceeding 1000 tons per year and produced/imported between March 23 1990 and March 23 1994. During phase I, 1884 substances were extracted from EINECS - referred to as the HPVC list these substances are listed in Annex I of ESR. The total list of substances reported under phases I and II of the Regulation is now referred to as the EU-HPVC list. [Pg.35]
