The unrealistic logic in planning of most ERP systems

In light of the logical relationships outlined before, you now have the opportunity to put conventional ERP systems - including your own - on the test stand. 

At this point, I have to admit that from 1964 to 1983 I helped develop and implement precisely these old ERP systems. 

In my own defense, let me say that the focus during the sixties and seventies was primarily on manual material requirements planning (breakdown into bills of materials) and putting the planning boards in work preparation onto EDP systems. The paradigms that evolved then - like all paradigms - are long lived. 

The implementation of planning and control modules of a reliable ERP system can no longer be justified from an economic standpoint and is dangerous in a competitive environment. 

Take a careful look at the planning logic of a conventional and/or your own ERP system (Fig. 29). Does your ERP system work on the premise of backlog or even with priorities for confirmed customer deadlines If it does, then you are fe-miliar with the profit-consuming symptoms.
