Topical applications of retinoic acid derivatives reduce the visible signs of aging and of photodamage,266 though there is little correlation between the histologic changes and the clinical appearance of the skin. Initial improvement in fine wrinkling and skin texture correlates with the deposition of HA in the epidermis.

Wennberg and Nyman (2004) indicated that high-pressure treatment produced white cabbage with specific properties in terms of nutrition and function. The proportion of soluble fiber was reduced with an increase in pressure up to 500 MPa however, the total fiber content remained constant. The reduction in soluble fiber content (or increase in insoluble content) due to high-pressure application was dependent on the initial levels of insoluble fiber and enzyme activity. Fuchigami et al. (1998) indicated that pressure-shift-frozen Chinese cabbage had better firmness, texture, and histological structure than the ordinary frozen samples.
