Such a decomposition probably occurs in the case of all substances belonging to the NH3+HGI type at least the vapor density of ammonium chloride, of phosphorus pentachloride, etc. suggest that these bodies do not vaporize without decomposition, that their vapor in fact is a mixture of two vapors, which recombine when the temperature is lowered, as has been demonstrated with certainty in the case, for instance, of tetraethyl ammonium iodide. Sodium and potassium picrate were prepared from picric acid and the alkali carbonate. They were purified by recrystallizing from water.
