Tests Run under Static Conditions

These tests, also called short-term stress and strain properties tests, are perfectly described in a special book devoted to the physical testing of rubbers [1], so that only a brief description will be given in this subsection. Such tests have been of enormous value, particularly in quality control tests, and have been studied and standardized 

Stress/strain relationships are commonly used in tension, compression, shear, or indentation. It should be said that all stress/strain relationships are a function of the elastic modulus, with the exception of the breaking point, which measures the resistance to breaking.
