Grammar. A grammar is just a defined set of nonterminal and terminal symbols, a specified member of (the start symbol) and a set of productions. Viewing reactions as productions we may define a chemistry as a set of molecular parts, a specified starting material, and a set of reactions. This assumes that the chemistry can be thrown into the proper grammatical form as discussed above. 

The complete amino acid sequence of a P. is shown by linking the 3-letter amino acid symbols by hyphens. If only part of a sequence is shown, the terminal symbols must also carry a second hyphen, e.g. -Ala-Ile-Val-Lys-. In these rules, underlined, lowercase symbols are terminal symbols for the grammar—that is, they are actual parts of speech for words that can appear in a valid sentence. The capitalized symbols are syntactic variables called nonterminal symbols. Nonterminals are distinguished by the fact that they appear on the left-hand side of one or more rules. Each nonterminal is defined by a set of rules. The nonterminals thus provide structure to the grammar. Each rule describes some aspect of an English sentence and an interpretation of the nonterminal that appears on its left-hand side. We read the first rule as a Sentence is a Subject, followed by a Predicate, followed by a period. The next two rules establish two ways to construct a Subject. The final three mles give three options for building a Predicate. 

At first, we designed a grammar for general use (by systems with several contexts) based on the morphological analysis used in the sentences of the Portuguese language and made of many rules that determines, for example, verbs, subjects, treatments, pronouns and articles. Thus the rule that defines an article comprises other two subrules for definite articles and indefinite articles. In the end the grammar has a total of 64 sub-rules and 167 terminal symbols. 

If this construct contains a term not being designated as terminal symbol, this term will be defined later by another rule, but each rule will be given only once.
