Tenoxicam Aspirin

A 43-year-old woman, who had taken antibiotics and analgesics, including dextropropoxyphene, for parotitis, developed generalized erythema with numerous pustules on the trunk followed by a pyrexia. Patch testing was positive with dextropropoxyphene only and negative with paracetamol, spiramycin, aspirin, and tenoxicam. [Pg.1093]

The pattern of adverse effects is similar to that of piroxicam, but tenoxicam causes slightly fewer serious gastrointestinal effects (1). Fecal blood loss is lower than with aspirin (SEDA-8, 111). A large, multicenter, hospital-based study confirmed that tenoxicam and piroxicam had similar tolerance ratings 13% of patients had severe adverse effects, most often gastrointestinal (melena, hematemesis, rectal bleeding, exacerbation of ulcerative colitis) and serious rashes (SEDA-15, 103). [Pg.3314]

Tenoxicam can provoke severe bronchoconstriction and nasal obstmction in aspirin-sensitive asthmatic patients (SEDA-12, 93). [Pg.3315]

Clinically important, potentially hazardous interactions with acitretin, aldesleukin, aminoglycosides, amiodarone, amoxicillin, ampicillin, aspirin, bacampicillin, bismuth, carbenicillin, chloroquine, cisplatin, cloxacillin, co-trimoxazole, dapsone, demeclocycline, dexamethasone, diclofenac, dicloxacillin, etodolac, etoricoxib, etretinate, fenoprofen, flurbiprofen, folic acid antagonists, haloperidol, hydrocortisone, ibuprofen, indomethacin, influenza vaccines, ketoprofen, ketorolac, lithium, magnesium trisalicylate, meclofenamate, mefenamic acid, methicillin, mezlocillin, minocycline, nabumetone, nafcillin, naproxen, NSAIDs, omeprazole, oxacillin, oxaprozin, oxytetracycline, paromomycin, penicillin G, penicillin V, penicillins, phenylbutazone, piperacillin, piroxicam, polypeptide antibiotics, prednisolone, prednisone, probenecid, procarbazine, rofecoxib, salicylates, salsalate, sapropterin, sulfadiazine, sulfamethoxazole, sulfapyridine, sulfasalazine, sulfisoxazole, sulindac, tazobactum, tenoxicam, tetracycline, ticarcillin, tolmetin, trimethoprim, vaccines... [Pg.369]

Mefenamic acid, and piroxicam and tenoxicam have a spectmm of side effects between that of aspirin and the ibuprofen type. The oxicams have a markedly longer duration of action than the majority of other NSAIDs and are therefore useful in chronic pain. [Pg.246]
