On the basis of the experimental results, the effect of the uniform magnetic field on the elastic modulus is shown in Fig. 23. It may be concluded that the spatial orientation of the force, the field, and the particle arrangement play a decisive role in the temporary reinforcement effect. A weak effect has been found when the field is perpendicular to the particle alignment (Fig. 23 left and center). 

Figure 24 shows the temporary reinforcement effect when the direction of the applied mechanical stress is parallel to the particle alignment. In this case, there are two different experimental situations. The direction of the magnetic field is parallel or perpendicular to the direction of the columnar structure as seen in Fig. 24. The compressive strength of these reinforced ZOE cements ranges from 36 to 52 MPa (Table 9.3). This compares with a strength of 13 to 38 MPa for unreinforced cements. ZOE cements are required by the International Standard (ISO, 1988) to have a minimum compressive strength of 35 MPa if they are to be used for permanent cementation and 25 MPa if they are intended for use as a base or for temporary restoration. 

Constructability can be less of a problem with shells. The logistics of conventional reinforcement schemes with alternative upgrade options can be quite difficult. Reinforcing connections and bracing may require temporary supports of the members being reconnected. Access to the critical joints for reinforcement can sometimes be virtually impossible. 

Deliberate meditation practices, done at times specially designated as meditation time rather than ordinary life, can also lead to a temporary lessening of the identification process. Electrochemical chloride removal. This method is based on the application of direct current to the reinforcement from a temporary anode placed on the surface of the concrete. The treatment may last up to several months. Chloride ions are removed from the concrete since they migrate towards the surface of concrete due to the applied current. This technique is described in Section 20.4.1.
