Temporal drift

In many recent papers it has been concluded that the use of ID metal oxide structures in conductometric GS can resolve the problem of thermal and temporal stability, i.e., the problem of temporal drift of operating characteristics (Comini 2006 Hemandez-Ramu-ez et al. 2007b). However, reviewed literature data testifies that the above-mentioned statement has not been proven by a detailed analysis and experimental results. 

As has also been found in this type of ceramic sensor, the base resistance of the element gradually increases during operation (Yamazoe and Shimizu 1986). This drift seems to be related to the formation of stable chemisorbed OH-groups on the surface of metal oxides, which impede Grotthuss-type proton conduction. The presence of temporal drift is one of the main disadvantages of resistive humidity... 

Simple and inexpensive, the watchdog is used to detect errors (frequent and not always acceptable) leading to inactivity ( crash ) of a central unit. More generally, it can detect a temporal drift. 

The temporal drift of an architecture can be induced by different types of failures failure of the clock or timers, failure of the software application (infinite loop, blocking, expiry of cycle processing time, etc.), failure at resource levels, etc. 

After detecting temporal drifts, it is possible to detect a second source of failure, related to hardware memory failure, failure of processing units, etc. 

Error detection secttres the execution of an apphcation when faced with certain types of failttres (temporal drift, failttre of the means, failttre of the process).
