The company you work for will have for you, and require you to use, hand protection when you are exposed to hazards such as skin absorption of harmful substances, severe cuts or lacerations, severe abrasions, punctures, chemical bums, or harmful temperature extremes. Physical hazards are defined as the types of hazards that can cause harm to a woiker from an external source. Types of physical hazards are loud noise (equipment), temperature extremes (working in personal protective equipment), radiation (exposures to the infrared or gamma rays), chemical bum (acids or caustics), fire, and explosions. An alternative to placing electronic products waste in dumps and landfills is to destroy the waste by incineration. One type of incinerator is the rotary kiln that uses the energy from liquid, combustible hazardous waste to increase the temperature of the kiln for drying cement. The chemical industry disposes of high energy-capacity, flammable liquids in this manner.
