Some effective team structures distinguish between a core group and a standing advisory group. This can be helpful in assuring consistent feedback from key people (such as facility-based safety experts) who may be unable to participate in regular working sessions but whose input and endorsement will be critical to success.

When the environment of the firm requires it to respond quickly to customers, organizing the work into a team structure is an obvious response.

Safety and health professionals should consider a systematic and consistent approach wherein each and every team member at all levels is provided the appropriate safety and health tools and education through which to perform his or her specific safety and health activities.
