Tasks 2 Through 5 Initiatives

Phases 2 and 3 consist of initiatives. Initiatives, described in some detail in Chapter 12, are convenient groupings of action plans for implemenfation. The strategy is developed in Phase 1. Phase 1 defines the initiatives needed and develops the action plans needed to start Phase 2. 

Our tasks for effective supply chain management are a convenient framework for grouping implementation initiatives. Not all the initiatives listed here will be required for any particular sphere rmder examination. However, the following lisfs should serve as a sfarfing point for defining pofential initiatives. Design Teams should also add their own initiatives to the list based on the need. 

When developed, each initiative will have one or more action plans. Depending on the nature of the projects, we believe five is an appropriate limit for each initiative. More than that would prove difficult to implement in most organizations. Action plans will come and go as they are executed. Initiative lives are longer — continuing through both Phases 2 and 3 — as they serve as umbrellas for implementing the strategy.
