Tandem reformer

Similar concepts are available from other licensors and contractors. Braun Root, is offering the Tandem Reformer [480]-[483] a process developed and commercially... [Pg.95]

At high temperature and pressure, a mixture of mostly H2, CO, CO2, and H2O is named synthesis gas (syn gas), which is produced by the steam reforming and partial oxidation of hydrocarbons or a combination of both processes (tandem reforming) in chemical industry [104]. The syn gas will produce H2 and CO2 through the water gas shift reaction at high pressure and slightly elevated temperature (5-40 bar and 313 K). In order to obtain pure H2 for further utilizations, pre-combustion CO2 capture, which refers to the separation of CO2 from H2 within the gas mixture, is required. [Pg.98]

In more recent reactor concepts, the hot synthesis gas at the outlet of the autothermal reformer is used for the heating of the catalyst tubes in the primary reformer. In general, this system is called convective reformer. Figure 5.6 shows an example of the so-called tandem reformer for the generation of methanol synthesis gas. [Pg.149]

The Tandem process developed in Russia also makes use of two reactors, a feature that allows it to more efficiently combine the processes of steam reforming and partial oxidation [320]. The Syntroleum has developed a process of ATR of natural gas with oxidation by air as a cheaper method of producing syngas at medium-capacity plants with a production capacity in GTL-products beginning from 2000 bbl/day. [Pg.252]
