Fast-dissolving tablets

Tablets fast dissolving, lipid-carrier based, slow releasing, disintegrate without water, float in the stomach (gastric retentive), buccal... [Pg.43]

DuraSolv is Cima s second-generation fast-dissolving/disintegrating tablet formulation and is also produced using direct compression but using higher compaction... [Pg.261]

A customer study funded by CIMA was done to measure consumer/patient reactions to fast dissolve. The population size was 5000 and spanned across a diverse age group. Patients were given a conventional tablet and an ODT and asked various questions. A significant majority of the patients said they would or might prefer a fast dissolve dosage form over a regular tablet or liquid. Only 12% of the patients rejected fast dissolve tablets. Most of the patients also indicated that they would ask their doctor for a fast dissolve version and would purchase a fast dissolve if available. [Pg.1105]

Fast-disintegration technology is used for manufacturing these tablets. The advantages of fast-dissolving tablets are as follows ... [Pg.22]

The remaining elements of this chapter do not address adherence per se but the types of dose form that may be valuable in personalized medicine, from the very simple fast-dissolving tablets and buccal films to more complex electronically driven microdevices. Some delivery systems can take the patient side of variability out of the equation. It is suggested that intelligent inhalers (13) reduce the dependence of inhaled dose of the patient s inspiratory flow, for example. [Pg.495]

Matrix mini-tablets based on starch/microcellulose wax mixtures have been described (31,32). The possibility with these and other mini-tablets is that different dose levels can be administered by changing the number of mini-tablets within a capsule for adults or using single units for children. It is also possible to utilize fast-dissolving mini-tablets to prepare liquid dosages extemporaneously. [Pg.500]

Information is very limited, but the interaction seems to be established. It is not likely to occur with solid form, fast-dissolving digoxin preparations (e.g. liquid-filled capsules) or digoxin in liquid form, but only with those preparations which are slowly dissolving (i.e. some tablet formulations). A reduction in digoxin levels of one-third could result in under-digitalisation. There seems to be no information about digitoxin. [Pg.931]

Another study by the same workers showed that propantheline increased the digoxin serum levels of a slow-dissolving tablet formulation Orion) by 40%, but had no effect on serum digoxin levels with a fast-dissolving tablet formulation Lanoxin) In a further study, propantheline increased the AUC of digoxin from Lanoxin tablets by 24%, compared with a non-significant increase of 13% with digoxin in the form of a solution in a capsule Lanoxicaps) ... [Pg.935]

Normally hard capsules are swallowed whole, but when they need to be administered to infants, pharmacy-prepared capsules may be opened before administration and the contents mixed with a small amount of suitable liquid or soft food. However, solid dosage forms that provide flexible dosing, such as fast dissolving granules (sprinkles) and uncoated mini-tablets may be preferable for paediatric patients because taste and smell can be masked and therefore compliance may improve [3]. [Pg.52]
