Tabernaemontana pandacaqui

A crude alkaloidal fraction from the stem of Tabernaemontana pandacaqui decreased the motor activity, respiratory rate, induced ataxia, antinociception, and loss of screen grip in rats, suggesting a CNS depression. The extract brought about the prolongation of pentobarbital sleeping time and the oxotremorine-induced salivation, hence possible cholinergic effects (13). [Pg.87]

The recent reports of the occurrences of these alkaloids are given in Table II. Pandoline (657) has been isolated from the leaves and stems of Melodinus polyadenus (Baill.) Boiteau 99, 373), from Ervatamia obtusius-cula Mgf. (373), and from the leaves of E. lifuana Boiteau 374), Tabemae-montana citrifolia L. 32), Stenosolen heterophyllus (Vahl) Mgf. 29, 375), and E. orientalis (R. Brown) Domin 374). 20-Epipandoline (658) occurs in the first four of these species, and pandine ( 9) in the last four, and also in the stems and leaves of Tabernaemontana pandacaqui Poir 376). [Pg.163]

The extracts of T. affinis, T. arborea, T. divaricata, T. heyrteana, and T. pandacaqui showed some degree of antitumor activity, whereas the extracts of T. malaccensis, T. dichotoma, and T. crassa exhibited hypotensive effects (9). Recently a systematic antimicrobial, antiamoebic, and antiviral screening of 19 different Tabernaemontana species has been carried out with positive results (218). [Pg.131]
