Systematic mapping of hazards within an organisation

Detailed JSA is applied in the analysis of individual work activities that for some reason have been focused upon. It is also applicable in a systematic and detailed mapping of the hazards of a department. Below is an example of how this may be accomplished  [Pg.284]

1 All activities in the department are identified and listed. This is done, for example, by reviewing the responsibilities of the different positions in the department. [Pg.284]

2 All activities are reviewed by application of Coarse analysis. The results are used as a basis for decisions on which activities to focus upon in detailed JSA. [Pg.284]

5 After the measures have been implemented, the activity is subject to an update of the analysis by observing the actual performance of the activity. The aim is to check that the analysis describes the actual situation adequately and that the measures are adequate. [Pg.284]

The analyses seen together will represent a total map of the hazards in the different activities in the department. This map will be a powerful tool in the work to reduce the risk of accidents in the department. It is important that it is updated with changes in the activities and with new accident experience. If this is done systematically, the map will represent an important carrier of the department s collective experiences on accident risks (see Section 15.3). [Pg.284]
