Syringe barrel

After inserting a needle into a vein for IV drug administration, pull back the syringe barrel. Blood should flow back into the syringe. After a backflow of blood is obtained, it is safe to inject the drug. [Pg.21]

The nurse carefully checks the health care provider s order for the type and dosage of insulin immediately before withdrawing the insulin from the vial. All air bubbles must be eliminated from the syringe barrel and hub of the needle before withdrawing the syringe from the insulin vial. [Pg.494]

One to 5 g material was mixed by a glass rod with 1 mL/g material of "stopping solution", that contained 25 mg/mL of ammonium sul-famate, 25 mg/mL of sodium ascorbate, and 2.0-2.5 mg/mL of cis-2,6-dimethylmorpholine (cis-DMM), and was adjusted to pH 1 with H2S0. The pH of the slurry was readjusted to 1 with concentrated H2S0. The mixture was stirred with 10 g Celite 560 (from Johns Manville Corp. previously sifted to remove< 60 mesh particles), and packed dry in a "Monoject" plastic 50 mL syringe barrel (Shermwood Industries) prepacked with 8 g Celite. The column was eluted (without flow-rate control) with 100 mL... [Pg.182]

Column Extraction. Aqueous samples and distillates were added to glass chromatographic tubes or plastic syringe barrels containing 0.5 g Celite 560 per g of sample. After 20 to 30 min of equilibration, the columns were eluted with 100 ml of DCM [for NDMA, NPYR and N-nitrosomorpholine (NMOR) or ethyl acetate (for NDELA and BHP)]. Residual solvent was removed from the columns by applying nitrogen pressure. Extracts were dried with Na S0, and concentrated to 1 ml in a Kuderna-Danish apparatus (NuMA, NPYR, and NMOR) in a 50 C water bath or in a rotary evaporator for NDELA and BHP, using a 30 C water bath. [Pg.335]

Attach a 25-mm Acrodisc nylon Alter cartridge to the LuerLok fitting of a 10-mL disposable syringe, and transfer approximately 5 mL of filtrate to the syringe barrel. [Pg.1236]

Cold needle Sample is drawn into the syringe barrel so that an empty syringe needle is inserted into the injection zone. Immediately the sample is Injected by depressing the plunger. Sample remaining in the syringe needle leaves by evaporation. [Pg.641]

The sorbents used for SPE are available in three basic formats, namely disks, prepacked cartridges, and syringe barrels, each with certain advantages. Solid media employed in SPE may be classified as nonpolar, polar and ion-exchange phases with mixed retention mechanisms (Table 3.41). The large sorbent selection ranges also... [Pg.125]

Syringe-barrel cartridges, disk-holders, plastic pipette-tips, well plates vacuum manifolds for semiautomatic batch processing fully automated autosamplers, xyz liquid handlers and robot-controlled work stations. [Pg.70]

Currently, most SPE is carried out using a small packed bed of sorbent (25-500 mg) contained in a cartridge made from a polypropylene syringe barrel, the sorbent being retained in position by... [Pg.71]

Tolls et al. [48] performed experiments with fathead minnows to determine the bioconcentration of alcohol ethoxylates in fish. Fish were homogenised in a mortar adding 1 mL of MeOH and 5 g of octadecylsi-lica. The dry dispersed powder was transferred to a syringe barrel and eluted. Four different fractions were obtained, using hexane, ethyl... [Pg.464]

Louis Gay-Lussac continued the ballooning exploits initiated by Charles, ascending to over 20,000 feet in a hydrogen balloon in the early 1800s. Gay-Lussac s law defines the relationship between the pressure and temperature of an ideal gas. If the temperature of the air in the syringe increases while keeping the volume constant, the gas particles speed up and make more collisions with the inside walls of the syringe barrel. As we have seen, an increase frequency in the number of collisions of the gas particles with a container s wall translates into an increase in pressure. Gay-Lussac s law says that pressure is directly... [Pg.105]

Vapor phase components are quantified through the syringe injection of a head space vapours at controlled rates directly into the ion source. Into a syringe barrel are deposited a few drops of... [Pg.88]

Changes that add or delete silicone treatments to container closure systems (such as elastomeric closures or syringe barrels). [Pg.536]

Pack the Sepharose into a suitable chromatography column (e.g, a syringe barrel fitted with a sintered disk), and wash with 50 mL of PBS Store at 4°C in PBS containing 0 1% sodium azide. [Pg.104]

A multiresidue technique—matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD)—was used to purify the meat samples. The prewashed Cl8 bulk material was gently ground with the blended sample. The resultant C18/tissue matrix mixture was transferred to a 10-ml syringe barrel. The precolumn prepared in this way was washed with hexane, and FZD residues were eluted with dichloromethane, with 13 other veterinary drugs assayed. The recoveries varied from 44% to 87%, depending on the concentration level, and the LOD was established at 2.5 ng/kg (20). [Pg.658]
