Synthesis of Thioethers, Sulfones, and Related Compounds

1 SYNTHESIS OF THIOETHERS AND RELATED COMPOUNDS THROUGH THE FORMATION OF SULFUR-CARBON(sH) BONDS 

Sulfur-carbon(sp ) bonds are commonly generated using nucleophilic substitution chemistry. These classic reactions are typically robust and tolerant to a wide variety of solvents, substrates, and reactions conditions. In addition to this methodology, a host of metal and oiganocatalyzed approaches have been devised and implemented in the syntheses of sulfur-containing compounds. The following sections will highlight some of the developments in this area.
