Synchronizing drug

Patients with mild or no symptoms can be treated initially with antiarrhythmic drugs. IV amiodarone is now recommended as first-line therapy in this situation. Procainamide or lidocaine given IV is a suitable alternative. Synchronized DCC should be delivered if the patient s status deteriorates, VT degenerates to VF, or drug therapy fails. 

This classification of anticancer drugs has inherent limitations. For instance, it may be difficult to generalize about the phase specificity of a particular drug, since this may vary among cell types. Several techniques are available to synchronize cell populations in such a way that most cells will be in the same phase of the cell cycle. After synchronization, one can treat cells in each phase and determine their relative sensitivity to drugs throughout the cell cycle. 

For certain aspects of work with cell cultures, a useful property of tunicamycin is that it can be used to synchronize cell division. After release of the block imposed hv the drug, the cloning efficiency was also higher, and the cloning size more regular, than in the control culture.547... 

The communication between neurons in the CNS occurs through chemical synapses in the majority of cases. (A few instances of electrical coupling between neurons have been documented, and such coupling may play a role in synchronizing neuronal discharge. However, it is unlikely that these electrical synapses are an important site of drug action.) The events involved in synaptic transmission can be summarized as follows.

The synchronized movement of the eyelids spreads the precorneal tearfilm across the cornea and pushes it toward the nasolacrimal duct. Precorneal drainage is quite efficient. An aqueous instilled dose leaves the precorneal area within 5 min of instillation in humans. Most of the drug absorbed by transcorneal penetration, without retention modification, is spread across the cornea by the eyelids in the first minutes postdosing. In the precorneal space transcorneal penetration is limited by solution drainage, lacrimation and tear dilution, tear turnover, conjunctival absorption, and the corneal epithelium. Slowing down tear film turnover has well-established benefits to topical ocular drug delivery.
