Swing units

There should be a means to monitor the several cycles of the desiccant drier, particularly the thermal-swing unit. [Pg.494]

The authors provide selection criteria, by which the suitability of a process for a distributed production can be assessed [139]. These are explicitly given for the categories of feedstock, processes, customer products, and waste products. This is completed by a list of suitable device types for distributed production such as plate heat exchangers, pressure and temperature swing units, electrostatic dispersers, and membrane units. The various operations often rely on the use of electricity and therefore are said to be particularly suited for operation at the mini scale. [Pg.60]

In principle, PE gas phase plants are so-called swing units which are able to produce both HDPE, MDPE and LLDPE, even if cost-wise it is better to avoid frequent switches between the PE grades with different densities. The gas phase process is the most commonly used technology for the production of LLDPE with 1-butene or 1-hexene as a comonomer. Fluidised bed gas phase process technology is licensed by Univation (Unipol) and BP (Innovene), stirred bed gas phase technology by Basell (Lupotech G). [Pg.21]

Capacity. Estimated ABS capacity worldwide in 1989 is given in Table 3. Accurate ABS capacity figures are difficult to obtain because significant production capabiHty is considered "swing" and can be used to manufacture polystyrene or SAN as weU as ABS. The United States has the largest ABS nameplate production capacity of any country at 867 x 10 tons accounting for approximately 25% of the world s capacity. Three producers... [Pg.207]

Regenerative adsorption units can be operated by a thermal-swing cycle, pressure-swing cycle, displacement-purge cycle, or inert-purge cycle. Combinations of these are frequently employed. [Pg.456]

Phenohc resins are produced by the condensation of phenol or a substituted phenol, such as cresol, with formaldehyde. These low cost resins have been produced commercially for more than 100 years and in the 1990s are produced by more than 40 companies in the United States. They are employed as adhesives in the plywood industry and in numerous under-the-hood appHcations in the automotive industry. Because of the cycHc nature of the automotive and home building industry, the consumption of phenol for the production of phenohc resins is subject to cycHc swings greater than that of the economy as a whole. [Pg.291]

With a host computer allows moving on to advanced control and multi-variable control. The unit is sensitive to day/night temperature swings and the multi-variable control can track ambient changes. [Pg.305]

In this work we present results obtained with the YSZ reactor operated in the hatch mode with electrochemical oxygen addition, and with the quartz plug flow reactor operated in the continuous-flow steady-state mode. In the case of continuous flow operation, the molecular sieve trap comprised two packed bed units in parallel in a swing-bed arrangement (Fig. 1), that is, one unit was maintained at low temperature (<70°C) to continuously trap the reactor products while the other was heated for -30 min to 300°C to release the products in a slow stream of He. [Pg.390]

Ultraforming A catalytic reforming process developed by Standard Oil of Indiana and licensed by Amoco Oil Company. The catalyst contains platinum and rhenium, contained in a swing reactor - one that can be isolated from the rest of the equipment so that the catalyst can be regenerated while the unit is operating. The first unit was commissioned in 1954. [Pg.278]

Another feature of boiler operations is the widely varying demands caused by changes in process operations, plant unit start-ups and shutdowns, and daily and seasonal cycles. Because utility equipment is often operated in parallel, demand swings commonly affect when another boiler, turbine, or other piece of equipment should be brought on line and which one it should be. [Pg.10]

One can attribute the selective formation of materials with the ester and allyl units trans to one another, to the preference for the allyl unit to occupy a pseudoequatorial rather than a pseudoaxial orientation in the product-determining transition state. Compare, for example, transition state formulation 68 with 69. This stereochemical outcome is fortunate, as later on in the sequence, it is necessary for the allyl unit (after functional group modification) to swing across the top face of the cyclopentyl ring system during the conversion of 62 to 63. Were the substituents cis to one another, this would not be possible. [Pg.14]
